I was looking around for someone to re-spoke my rear wheel for me (R80g/s) and found this chap in Leicester. He charged £115 for the wheel to be re-built with stainless spokes and looks to have done a good job. He can also skim rear brake drums. I took the wheel to him first thing in the morning and picked it up in the afternoon. He will also do tubeless wheels, but needs notice as he does not normally stock the spokes. These wheels do cost more, I forgot to ask how much. Make sure to ask for specific directions to his house, it took me a while to find. Mention the UKGSER club and he may give a small discount?

You will find the BMW cross spokes are usually jammed into the hub and have to be cut out then the holes cleaned. Electrolytic corrosion between aluminium hub and stainless spokes does the damage. The wheel builder will need to use a marine spec anti corrosion grease on the spokes and in the holes to limit the corrosion.

Powder coating the hub should help but the spoke holes will have to be plugged so it wont solve the electrolytic corrosion issue.

PS I wonder if there's a thin enough heat shrink sleeve that could directly insulate the spokes into the ally hub.
