I had a new set of Anakee Adventure's fitted to my TC GSA, so far so good, but I noticed yesterday that there was 45g added to the rear wheel when they did the balancing, is this amount normal? Bike runs lovely, like they all do on brand new rubber, I was just surprised to see that amount in wheel weights.

I dunno, I never ever bothered to balance wheels, not even when I had free access to the kit,
Not much help eh :D

Same as above other than i never have had access to the kit. Not much help from me either, sorry :D

Yes, normal

BMW spec max 80g weights for front and for rear with max imbalance 5g on front and 45g on rear

If you have tyre pressure monitors you basically have to put a brick on the other side to compensate. Normal valves probably less. Depends on the tyres too, some have a dot which is supposed to go next to the valve.

I knew the chunkier tyres (TKC80 etc) do possibly need quite a bit more weight, my local tyre guy told me this once, so I guess up to 80g per wheel would make sence.

Yep, I have the sensors, this along with NicD's response would suggest that my 40g would be about right.

Cheers.

The rear K60 Scout on mine needed no weights at all but that might change as it wears down. Wheel dynamically balanced on a car wheel machine.

Checked again, turns out I have weights in more than one place on each wheel, I've a total of 80gms on the rear and 65gms on the front.
