My bike will never lift the front wheel under exeleration only. Tried sitting back on the seat, empty tank & whacking the throtel open. I think the problem is the altitute we live at..1400 metres above robs the bike of a fair bit of power.

I would tend to disagree with this mouse.

On the Pink way Around I discovered my rear break pads were metal to metal.

I switched off the ABS and the rear brake didn't rub the disc any more. I covered 600 miles before I could get a new set of pads.

So I think by swithching off the abs you also unlink the brakes.

As for wheelies, I'm told a bike 'any bike' has a sweet spot, I.E: that at a ceitain revs in a certain gear '1st or 2nd' the bike will with a little phisical encouragment, will lift the front wheel.

Just reving it and dumping the cluch will eventualy damage the drive train and the cluch, never mind the compleat lack of controle you'll have.

:mmmm had to think for a minute.

Switching off ABS doesn't unlink the brakes, sadly.

It will allow you to do a mega stoppie though :D

Mouse is correct.. switching the ABS off does NOT stop linked brakes
Try it..centre stand..switch ABS off..pull front lever. you will not be able to spin rear wheel with your hand.

So cant explain your observations
:D

so does that mean non abs models don't have linked brakes?

It does indeed - I ordered my 1200 without ABS in order that I wouldn't have linked brakes.

I'm completely unqualified to speak on this.. not least as I don't have a 12... but wouldn't IT be the servo assist, rather than the ABS, that links the brakes?

Gs ing or Piss offing?

You could oil the rear disc brake! :clap :clap Oh come on... We are Gs ers not ?? Oh this site has took a Big step Back as I'm concerned!! No don't worry I realise anyone can and I shouldn't comment and... :rob BIGJIIM Tasmania.

Hmmm?? Maybe I was wrong :nenau But I could see the disc through the hole in the metal part of the pad (backing), Sugested to me there was no pad left :nenau

No grinding or sighns of, just lucky I guess.
