Seems to be a shortage of front wheels around for GS's.

Was contemplating getting a new rim and having mine rebuilt.

Looks like a very simple construction to me, but my local wheel guy doesn't touch them. And it seems a few more don't like BMW wheels either.

Has anyone any recommendations for decent wheel builders in the Yorkshire region that will work on BMW stuff.

Doug Richardson seems a good egg, but he's a long way away. And it'd be nice to drop off and pick up if possible.

The main reason wheel builder don’t like x spoke wheels,
Corroded spokes.
If the spokes are proper stuck it can take hours just to strip them apart.
No one wants to pay £300 just to get them in bits

The other thing with x spokes,
You can build them like conventional wheels but it’s hard to tru them up.
It’s better to have a jig to hold the hub and rim solid.
Then build and torque the spokes.
This requires a lot of non payback investment on each and every different spec wheel.

We had a set of wheels from a customer,
Been rebuilt/anodised/ new spokes, etc
Way too much runout.
Asked him for the original offset measurement so we could turn up the correct spec spacers etc ,
No joy,
Original wheel builder hadn’t even measured the rim offset.

Charlie is the chap to ask,my associate.
He’d need an un molested wheel.
To get correct offsets and be able to machine a set of spacers.
And you’d need to talk nicely as he’s not a fan of wasser boxers
