Decided to buy GS1150 :hapybnce: (still not sure on Mandarin or Blue/White  ).
Would prefer to buy new so I can choose own spec and then carlessly throw overdraft at it to personalise it.
The question (finally) is, how late can I leave purchase before the butt ugly 1200 comes out next February. Taking into account that I don't want to end up in tears with no more 1150's being supplied by BMW. Members here have said 1150 prices will come down so how do I time the purchase carefully?
Any suggestions (preferably constructive ones)?

Steve B (no, the other one)

Steve,

If 1150 prices come down (and I don't think for a minute they will) it'll be on bikes that are hanging around in showrooms long after the 1200 has arrived (very few discounts on single sparkers when twinsparks were available, for example).

Most of what I've read and heard suggests that the 1200 will be introduced as an addition to the GS range initially (possibly phasing out the 1150 & keeping the Adv on).

I'd buy when you were ready - are you going to ride through the winter? If not, you may as well order for 1st March. If you are, order it now - you might get lucky and have it delivered by Christmas.....:D

I would buy now ( you may get run over by a bus in the spring:eek: ).
Personalise it by putting miles on the clock.

Mandarin is not a current colour option, if your dealer has one he's had it a while. In addition to tart's handbag (your other distressing colour choice) there is Graphitan, Black (with no cost option to rid yourself of red seats in favour of black) and dare I mention it given your original colour choices) sun yellow.

Cheeky lot

Well it would appear Andy has been having fun with my avatar and I want a GS 650 but what colour options do I have, oh yes wait I can have one till later on this year.

Maybe I will see what is floating around, I reckon I should have a second hand one though as I am know for not really being careful enough and maybe I would give it a few scratches and G would kill me.

If I have one does that actually mean I have to spend as much time as G down the garage cleaning it. I hate cleaning.

I wouldn’t leave it too long if I where you. The dealer that took my deposit for the 1200 has been told that all his 04 allocation of GS’s will be the new model. Given the production lead times he starts ordering 04 stocks in October.

Having put 84k on my 1996 1100 I'm looking forward to taking delivery of a 1200 in March.

Personally I don’t think we have seen the finished article yet, what better way to gauge public reaction than to leak a few "spy" shots?

I recon the 1200 is going to be the dog’s bollocks

Yeah right.

My 13 month old Adventure cost £9000, loaded with all the BMW extras.

I now can't sell it for £6000. I think theres gonna be alot of unhappy people around when they go to PX for the new 1200.

Still. At least I'm only loosing £231 a month!!

Don't talk to me about depreciation!

I p/xed my 02 Triumph Sprint St for a 01 GS after I just couldn't get on with the ST (Good bike, no personality, no distinguishing features...not good for commuting).

Cost me 6400 4 months ago, I got 4200 for it!

I actually got more from a BMW dealer than the Triumph dealer who sold it to me! (Triumph dealer originally clinched the sale with numerous mumblings about the lack of Triumph depreciation...lying git!)

Love the GS though. Excellent all rounder, terrifies car drivers, better than the Tiger I had... with the GS I never had a bike that gets so much attention...

Cheers,
