Would be grateful for any suggestions - a group of us (7 bikes) are going over to France on the 11pm ferry from Portsmouth soon. We want to meet up for dinner beforehand - somewhere we can park up the bikes easily enough (and as securely as possible) and somewhere they don't mind accomodating us (specifically the helmets/bags etc we will bring in). Ideally a pub doing good food rather than any fast food place. - many thanks.

pub next to the port - head right at the entrance off the roundabout, keeping the freight check in to your left

you'll have to go back onto the roundabout and do a 360 turn to get back to the passenger check in, unless you break the rules and risk getting mowed down by a truck!

It’s a long time since I was in Portsmouth but The Churchillian up on Portsdown Hill was always accommodating, you get cracking views over the harbour and if the pub food menu is sufficient, pop across the road for Micks Monster Burgers
There will be better and more recent/ relevant suggestions but I’m having a lamp swinging, nostalgic memory

I would. There will be a lot of people heading to that ferry wanting dinner.

Just over the hill in Southwick is the Red Lion excellent food decent car park at the rear. Booking essential

Spice Island in Portsmouth old town.

not the friendliest of places to get into and out of with a group of 7 bikes heading to a ferry

fine for a night out if staying in Pompey

Port Solent would be my recommendation also, very easy to get to, excellent parking, a choice of restaurants and 10 minutes from the ferry.

Why look at Portsmouth? Plenty of places in the surrounding areas, offering better choices
Hayling, Havant, Emsworth, hell you could add another 7 miles to your route and look at Chichester

Why not just meet up the port and dine at will in one of the restaurants on board the MV Whichever your voyage is upon. Get bladdered in the process without risking on having a pint of weak shandy at the pub then getting pulled over by they local law enforcement agent.
