Afternoon all,

This one has me stumped!

I just went to eBay to price up brake caliper seals for my 2001, ABS, Brembo equipped 1150GS, expecting to find endless options for my purchasing pleasure.

I found none.

A bit more digging and I found generic r1150 seal kits, but they don’t say if they’re for Brembos or not.

There are piston and seal kits, for over £100, but I only need the seals.

What’s going on? Is there something unbelievably specialist about these brakes meaning no one stocks seal kits?

Any advice/insight would be appreciated!

Cheers
Mike

Just realised I’d made a mistake - it’s a mid ‘52 reg, on Brembo calipers, production date 12/2002.

In my defence I’ve not had the number plate on it for almost a year now during the rebuild!

Does this mean it has Brembo ‘evo’ brakes?

I can get a kit including pistons from Motorworks if so - but at £80 it’s a damn sight more than I wanted to pay. I literally need the seals - the pistons seem fine.

To be honest the seals may also be fine - but having stood for 15 years I’m stripping and rebuilding them as a matter of course.

They used to do a seals only kit. Give them a ring and ask if its not on the site. They are generally very helpful.

Brakes and tyres are the two things I NEVER skimp on.
Personally I’d be putting a full rebuild kit in there regardless.
Better safe than sorry. :thumb2

Measure your piston diameter.

99.9% of caliper seals are generic and only change by piston diameter.

If you get stuck, I have multiple trade accounts with suppliers than will likely have what you need.
