Hi Folks

I'd like to (tastefully) hi-viz mark my GS - taking account of the law and 'white to front' 'red to rear' 'amber (or yellow) to side' etc etc!

Anyone have a source for the tape / sheet material for this. Or perhaps there is a company who can make a patterned fitting kit? I noticed one of the councils is now using marked up GS's for road inspection personnel - anyone got info on where they might have gotten it?

I got mine from a couple of different sellers on Ebay, good deals each time.

If you want it to last then use 3M Diamond Grade tape. It's not cheap but the glue on the back doesn't 'go off' like cheap glues do, its as reflective as it gets and is UV proof. It's the stuff plod battenberg their vehicles with.

are very good to deal with. I'd put white SOLAS grade tape on the front (I did the hand guards and the bottom of the fork tubes). Then covered the panniers in Diamond grade red. Well, not covered, but 'bits' I'll post you some pics if you're interested.... Let me know

White to the rear almost certainly isn't legal in the UK. And as Kahuna lives up north he's almost certainly get run over by a snow plough

Zackly!!!

Also interested in the Black - Reflective tape for the side of the Black bits on the GS. Perhaps not legal (strictly speaking :augie) but who's gona complain cause your being conspicuous!

look up 'sign makers' in the Yellow pages they should be able to sort out with any colour / grade you want. I bought a few sheets and did the ol' Blue Peter trick a couple of years ago (I did get permission to use the scissors)and they are still as good as when they went on.

I gave a tenner for three sheets (A4 ish) one yellow, one white reflective and one orange hi viz.

Looks shite - but with a Yellow HG Voyager and a white Shoie I know I have been seen. Probably a lot of guilty people out there and its good to see the mobile phones drop on the floor as I go past.

Lets see your set-up then Slow!

Not everyones cup of tea - simply cut strips and overlaid them. There is one on the back -too.

I have not been stopped or asked to change it - until I do I'd prefer to be noticed. I'd probably do more next time I change and the Hi Viz HG Voyager looks good on the ski slopes as well - plus it has saved me from a few bruises!

I can't understand why people make noises about not being seen when most bikers wear dark helmets, black trousers, black panniers, black coats, black gloves etc. If you dont care then fine - go camoflaged as tarmac.

Me, I dont care if I look like the Christmas tree fairy..........

All done for £4.95

Local Pound shop did a set of rectangular and circular reflectors which fitted neatly in a couple of places including bar ends and on panniers. Also got a pair of Bumper Pads which fit on the panniers nicely and add some protection.

Managed to get some stick-on reflective number plates which fitted on the panniers nicely for £2.95

Stagecoach in Newcatle have a graphics department which sells 3m reflective, if its good enough for the local emergency service vehicles it should be okay on a GS. BUT
buy the decent stuff or else it delaminates and the outer coloured sections peel off and it looks like all of Northumbria Police forces vehicles ie TATTY.
Alternately try Mick Laidler at A- Z stickers on Westgate Road as he keeps some reflective in stock.
Reflective is a total pain regarding not liking to be jet washed or have chemicals on it.

Great feedback thanks Neil

Any contact details or location for the person to contact to buy from StageCoach per chance...?

I've ordered some stuff from HumVee but I'm still looking for some of the really reflective stuff in Yellow or White.

Not sure who's in charge there since they moved from the top of Shields Rd, its been 3 or 4 years since I had a prototype vehicle in there to be marked up. As I said Mick at A-Z will also have something or be able to put you onto somebody who stocks it
