A strap to hold a fuel bottle in under the tank of my GSA?

Stand at the front of a GSA, looking back towards the bike, bend down and look up under the LH (as you're looking at it) wing of the petrol tank, and theres a recess which fits a Sigg bottle really well. There's also two threaded holes, so obviously it's designed to hold a bottle.

Brilliant I thought, I'll keep my fuel bottle for my camping stove in there when I'm touring and eliminate any possibility of the rest of the kit in my panniers smelling of fuel if I have a leak. Could also be useful as an emergency reserve (although only a litre) of fuel for the bike on a long stint.

Trouble is, my dealer can't find the strap on the parts fiche, and I wouldn't know where to get one made up.

Any ideas?

Umpteen hardware / camping shops sell assorted straps / ties.

You are bound to find / make something that will suit.

That involves me making something. Which will inevitably end up looking like a bodge!

its for the charcoal canister for the US market - search for charcoal and im sure it wil come up with a part number somewhere
Thanks, will do. My dealer didn't even know what it was for. I though some sort of environmental protection thing for the american market, the dealer though it was for a water bottle for crossing deserts...

Seems we were both wrong.

Nobody will see it and we won't tell. :thumb2

No. You were right. Enviromental thing it is, a carbon filter for absorbing fumes from the petrol tank, a must-do for some US states.

Try long velcro cable ties, cheap secure and probably available in a couour to match the Sigg bottle. :thumb2

To make it extra secure given the finish of a Sigg bottle I'd also get a couple of pieces of adhesive backed velcro to stick on the bottle under the cable ties :rob
