I need to gain some ridding in sand practice and have no budgett left for an overseas trip.

Any suggestions on UK locations?

I'll be picking my bike up from South Wales late November - Can you still ride on Pendine Sands?

Cheers

A couple of the Byways on the Surrey Wombat hunts are sandy - not that long though.

Some great sandy beaches on the North East coast Walkworth, druridge Bay both pretty isolated so unlikley to piss any one off ,I used to take my cossack 175 off road there a few years back ,Beautifull part of country!!:thumb2

Have a chat with the BMW off road guys, IIR They managed to find some sand for Charley in the build up to his Dakar race.

Make your self known over at www.vdsr.co.uk friendly bunch. I think there are some places in S-Wales where people do ride, although I'm not sure of the legality.

You can drive on southport beach, its apparently classed as a car park, though offraod vehicles are expressly prohibited from the dunes ;)

Southport leisure lakes...Very deep sand ...:D Pay and play MX / Enduro track :thumb2

What for?

If you want to shag a bike quickly, ride it on sand.

If you want to shag a bike very quickly, ride it on a beach.

You know Brean is not far from WSM where they have a beach race.
If I was you I would make some enquiries with the local council, explain the race you are entering, how your riding for charity and how you need a venue to get some practice in on sand. See if you can swing a weekends pass. Would you like me to make some enquiries for you, they can only say no.

Not any more I'm afraid, as all motor vehicles are banned. :tears The quad riders driving like idiots along the busy tourist beach have ruined it for everybody.

There is a much smaller (approx half a mile long) sandy beach in Llansteffan but I'm not sure if vehicles are allowed. TBH I regularly see bikes on Llansteffan beach and as long as you stay out of the busier end (I can't imagine any part of it would be busy late in November) I would have thought you would be ok. There are no sand dunes I'm afraid - Llansteffan beach is as flat as a pancake.

Get yourself onto the TBEC round at Rendlesham.
Whilst you are over that way the BOATS near Woodbridge airfield are all sandy.
There's also a couple of MX tracks up that way that are nice and sandy.

Check with them when is their quietest time though, it can get a bit manic. It will be difficult enough without having to deal with a bunch of rampaging kids on 125 crossers using you for grip. DAMHIK.:o
Give me a shout if you want to go and I'll sort out a bed for you, I'm about 45 minutes from there. Might even come along for support.
