Where Do You Put Yours? - Autocom that is

I got an Autocom kit (Pro-7 Sport) as a Chrissie present and have finally got a bit of time to try to fit it to my bike.

My question is:- where is the best place to install it on the 1200GS?

I note from previous threads that there appears to be three options:-

1. At the rear of the tank ( on the manual holder)
2. In the tool tray
3. Under the pillion seat

I would appreciate comments as to the pros/cons of the above, thoughts on any other suitable mounting point, and any useful hints regarding cable routing and storage.

mine's on the manual holder attached with cable ties and there is a piece of rubber between it and the holder.
I used a plug to power it and my GPS from the accessory socket rather than mess about soldering in to the back of the socket.
They both power off on their own at the same time as the ABS light goes out when you remove the ignition key.

Starcom and iRiver MP3 sit in the space created when the tool tray is removed.

Those two, plus the GPS are powered from a fused spur directly off the battery, and this is controlled via a relay trigged by a jumper onto the green/blue ignition wire at the back of the diagnostic socket (as per HMarc's article on www.r1200gs.info)

Mine's in the tool tray along with the kenwood transceiver for bike to bike and the little jobby that allows you to link an MP3 and the nav system. Bit of a squeeze but if you are tidy with the wires it all goes in - and works!

I looked at the options of where to place the Autocom and ended up with it above the headlight, slung under the screen bracket. I wired it into the extra accessory socket located on the left side just under the handlebar.

First picture is the first attempt to prove it would all work, I was concerned about running the helmet connection back as Autocom said it may pick up interference, it doesn’t After I proved it worked OK, I moved the spliter (red box) out of sight.
The second picture shows the final layout but with the PMR not mounted, it sits to the right of the MP3.

Activmoto - this is slightly off-topic so please forgive, but I have also got a Garmin GPS with Touratech mount. I have decided on a more low tech approach for GPS audio + music e.g. GPS and music source (music source in jacket pocket) both feed into separate 3.5mm jacks which combine via a short cable into a 3.5mm socket - into which I plug my Doucom earpieces (which work a treat).

Question is - what is the best routing for the audio cable from the Garmin unit audio cable take-off to my jacket? At the moment I have a 1 meter cable trailing from the Garmin mount over the screen - far from elegant.

Which I think is smaller than the 'Pro' but mine fitted snugly into the fusebox, just a thought.

I run my cable along the right hand side of the bike, under the panels, first off I tried it placed between the seat and tank. Then I moved it to exit at the side which is more convienent for connecting when seated on the bike. See photo.
