Not such a silly thread. Its a PITA and as a new boy I did have a study the bike to decide a suitable location. :blagblah

I've used Copter Tape and mounted mine on the side of the air box - it just fits - no additional surfaces to clean, out of the way, and you would destroy the disc if you tried to nick it.

I would post a photo except i'm abroad on business at the mo, so not so easy...

5 year old dirty tax disc on bike, new one in wallet, never had a problem.

KTM doesn't even have a tax disc on it....the cops have got more important things to worry about than me not displaying a tax disc I figure....:pullface

What sort of wallet is recommended to keep the tax discs in and where should it be kept?

I fill whilst sitting on the bike - so technically in the middle.

:Motomartin

I fill to the right .....

But dress to the left . Lol

As for my tax disc it never leaves the house . No need with the tax checking ability of the cops and traffic wardens .

£1000 fine (up to)

Must be displayed

You're not allowed to make a copy of the disc (even for your own use - this may be perceived as forgery IMHO [not mentioned in the link above])

Frankly I've never not been able to stick a disc somewhere. So I really would display, despite the stupidity of it all.

I think most coppers and wardens are fairly okay with not seeing a disc. BUT if you've been a naughty boy (or girl or whatever) and they want to find "something" it may be the ideal "extra" - particularly those with "quota" to fulfill - remember that many public servants aren't our servants anymore - they are money making robot jobs worth's machines for the state [god I've got cynical in my old age] (not so much the police, especially the traffic boys, who are normally quite realistic about things* - but its certainly changed from my day I think, we never had targets and quotas when I was "on the job")

*until you watch the wankers on Police Camera Action where they did the young lad in the BMW for tyres 0.1mm under the min tread depth, but did him favour and only did him for one tyre and not all three FFS- using a tread depth gauge not capable of measuring to that accuracy - god they are not worthy to wear the uniform! (The problem is 99% are really great guys - I just can't believe they showed that!!!). Oh and where did they learn that driving technique - my driving school instructor would cringe!

ANYWAY - that type would do you for no tax disc

(is it 8 pages we're currently aiming for?)

Just renewed the tax on one of my bikes & the disk has come through from the DVLA.

It actually says on the form that you tear the disk from that there is a penalty of up to £200 for not displaying

So one of us is wrong Johnboy :D

One is "failure to display", the other "failure to own" ? :nenau

Looking forward to next month's Tax disc thread - already :thumb2

Ladbrookes won't even give odds on it not being in the 1200 section.... :blast

Al :)
