Where does the power lead connect ?

Hi

I need to install a Nav II on my 1150GS and have the BMW power lead, does anyone know where the lead plugs into the original loom ?

Don't think it plugs in to the loom? Try pluging it in to an accessory socket or hard wiring it to the battery via an inline fuse.

I never use the accessory sockets & did ot like the large plug sticking out, so I disconnected the socket on my starter motor cover & wired the power lead directly to the loom that way, using greased waterproof connectors. Benefit of this way is that the GPS unit does not power down when the ignition's turned off.

Simon, what does the connector on the Nav 2 look like?
I have (somewhere) a BWM power lead that piggy backs onto the the aux power connection behind the starter motor cover, it has the round connector that fits SP3 and Garmin Vs etc.

Is it any good to you?

The lead supplied is approx 3 foot long and has the leads that connect to the GPS and cradle on one end and on the other a twin male bullet connector and a twin female bullet connector.

The BMW part number is 71 60 7 687 705

Does this connect into the accessory socket on the gearbox case ?

My lead is about 5' long with a the round 4 pin plug at one end that connects to the GPS the other end has one double male bullet and a female double bullet that connects to the aux power behind the starter cover.

Keith that sounds like the lead I have, only mine has the other type connector for the Nav II. I will pull the bike apart tomorrow and have a look behind the starter cover.
