Hi folks
have bought the garmin 2610 with ram mount from gpsw, just presumed it would be fancy pants mount but on closer inspection looks a bit cack, where do you fit the metal loop, it looks like it will only fit normal bars-skinny loop.

Advice and photos would be great many thanks:thumb

works for me

(you need the little plastic bit that fits inside the u bolt to make it really secure)

hi cookie do you get the plastic thingy with the gpsw mount?-looks fine on your bike, never thought of putting it were youve got yours:thumb

it came as part of the bike kit ages back, i guess it still does. it has it's own part number i think, so i'm sure you could order one if not.

it enables the u clamp to grab the oval tube a treat. no rotation as you would get if the tube was round :)

i wrapped the tube in some fibreglass(? geotex) mat i had lying around, and then a layer of insulating tape to protect the frame from the clamp.

Mounted mine in same place as Cookie:thumb I got my 2610 bike bundle from gpsw and it came with the plastic spacer give them a ring if yours was missing i'm sure they would send you one :)

The part you need is

U Bolt Adaptor RAP 319 cost I think is £1.89 postage hope this helps.:thumb

The 'kit' has a u-bolt mount (with arm and diamond base), GA9 cradle and for those (including You! ..there's a RAP-319 shim adaptor). So you have options on a 12GS ... either on the tubular handlebars, across the crossbar (using the shimbo) and my favoured option is around the oval rail above the speed clocks and yes, using the RAP-319 shimbo. I would opt to add a wrap of rubber (thumb width x 2").

I suggest a trawl within this forum may reveal where others have mounted theirs.

cheers for the replies,

do you find that this is generally a good mount, ie sturdy, non drooping(like something else i could mention after a few beers too many:D )

i suppose i have had the occasional droop :o depends how horizontal the RAM arm is & how tight you do it up. when done properly, no problem.
