Where the F**K do all these bikes go to?

I don't know but i was told directly by a guy who ran a recovery yard that most stolen recovered bikes he had in never got identified. They just crushed them as they were not allowed to sell or strip.

my cousin has his MX bike nicked the night before a big race and he was second in the Scottish Championships....spooky or what :augie....he eventually got it back :D

I figured most stolen bikes were parted out in the end :nenau

clear case for castration of the offenders here if we do this they wont have a brain left

Apparently ebay is the biggest market for stolen bike bits (and bikes). Many end up in eastern Europe but a hell of a lot are being nicked by neds to thrash around the local bing / spoil heap / country park.

When I used to stop people on motocross bikes in the country park I worked at most of them had the frame and engine numbers ground off. The police could only sieze the bike if they caught them red handed riding the bike. Most bikes they did sieze would end up getting crushed as they could never trace the owners.

This is one of the reasons I'm reluctant to get a modern trail bike as it just makes you a target....

Incredible . . . . .

"3 bikes stolen on the Thursday14th PM /Friday15th AM June 2007 in the Blackburn area Lancashire after 1 of the bikes were advertised in the AutoTrader. The thieves contacted us later to offer the return of these bikes for monies".

I remember reading an article a few years ago about a stretch of water in the Fens being dredged and something like over 40 super bike frames came out over a few days....

Problem with defending your property using reasonable (or even unreasonable) force is that the little beggars just come back with there mates - windows out, car vandalised, pets killed - I've heard of all of these and more happening to folk who have tackled thieves, not to mention the possibillity of the police getting on your case as well.

One of the reasons I left Edinburgh was because my garage was being repeatedly targetted by local neds after my MZ baghira - seemed like a bit of a cop out but I wasn't prepared to spend the rest of my life lying awake at night listening for the sounds of break ins!
