In a Remote area apparently.
Ok where have you guys fitted your extra power socket too ? Im looking at fitting one on the same panel as the winglets are fitted as there seems to be a round hole in the plastic moulding between the winglet screws. Any suggestions are welcome. No "feck off " aint one of em :D

I have just installed a clamp on type 12V and USB powered socket on the frame below the original power supply. Its only for use when the bike isnt being ridden. I did consider the area you are looking at but saw this socket on FleaBay and it certainly does the job.

that's what i've done. one on each side.

if it's on a later model, you'll need to mark the hole position inside the bracket hole from underneath before disassembly.
pre 08 brackets are different, hole position less critical and the position is marked on the underside of the beak by bmw.

another slight snag with putting the sockets there on late models is that the sockets need to be removed to get the beak off.

still the best place to site them though IMO.

I fitted one like that; simple to do and very useful.

Left hand side, I use an angled plug and lead into tankbag.

I did the same - drilled the around the"blank" and filed it smooth.

Bought a Powerlet kit and wired direct to battery with fuse.

Socket to tank bag and wired SatNav into the back of the socket to eradicate Canbus interuptions
