We're off work next week and spending Tues/Weds in Blackpool visiting friends and seeing the lights (think 2 days will be more than enough:augie.)
We have done a few days in the lakes and thought where we could go for a couple of days on the East side, any ideas? We'll be leaving Bpool Thursday morning and will have to come home Sunday sometime, so have all day Fri and Sat minimum.
Any ideas chaps/chapesses?

Glad to help but what are you into? The Northumberland coast is stunning with loads of castles and great beaches and don't forget the Roman wall. Newcastle has a great nightlife and loads of shops and visitor attractions. County Durham (and the city of Durham) also has a lot to offer with great countryside and Durham cathedral as well as the old town centre.

Let me know where you're staying and I may pop in for a pint;)

Cheers Mort, we're not into rowdy nightlife, just a quietish evening drink is enough. Shopping is a no no, can do that anyhere. Its more about scenery etc, seeing things the area is known for if you like, we especially like the coast etc. Basically we've never been to this part of the Country and may not visit again (but there again we may) so it's nice to make the most of it. Will have to get the map out i think to familiarise myself with the area.
Not booked anywhere to stay as we're unsure quite where we will end up at the moment.

If you fancy the coast Whitley Bay is central but rowdy in parts, Tynemouth lively but friendly and if there are actually any B&Bs in Seaton Sluice there are a couple or 3 grand pubs where you can eat as well as drink...

Actually Cullercoats may be a nice compromise - plenty of dining/drinking...not sure about digs .....and I used to live there....:augie

As Mort says : Let us know if you do stop local and where and we can meet up..

:beerjug:

Sounds like a good plan, will have a look at the old map tomorrow and devise a cunning plan.....

From what you say I'd look a bit further North, the coast from Holy island (well worth a visit) heading South to Whitley bay (60 miles) is as good as it gets anywhere in the UK.

Thanks chaps, loads to look at, when i work out a route i'll post it up and see if its local for anyone to meet for a pint, nice to put faces to names! (I think) :thumb2
