hi all from a passionate gs.er
i`m trying to find a suitable place to stick/glue/velcro/wedge a new autocom active rider control unit thingy and also where to draw the bike 12v supply from to power it !!! obviously i`m trying to avoid the engine area because of the heat and also electrics maybe giving a buzzing noise :blast any help much appreciated as i`m going away in a couple of weeks to sample the lovely foreign cheap beer:beerjug:  if i can offer any help in return not a problem :bow

Is this like the Starcom unit? If so mine is located on top of the airbox on my 1150 - power is directly from the battery via a fused lead.

Welcome to the forum scoobyears.

There's a few options, use the site search feature - search on Autocom and use the drop down menu to select Search Titles Only to narrow the search down..........here ya go :-)

"autocom"

"autocom installation"

And photos attached of mine........I cut a couple of slits in the plastic tray to take the velcro strap that holds the Autocom unit in place.
Pillion headset lead sits out the way under the pillion seat and rider lead tucks in the side of the battery tray.
Of course you loose space for the tool kit (for what it's worth)

I never bother fitting, i bought a very small tank bag of ebay and fitted everything in there radio, comms the lot, all in a freezer bag, cable tied so that only the leads i need are poking out to keep everything waterproof, put a plug on the end to fit the power socket, removed in about 15 seconds when stopped and not on the bike when i dont need :beerjug:

Mine's fixed, by rubber bands, to the pointless manual holder, behind the tank. There is plenty of space under the seat for it and it leaves the tool recess free.

I TRIED NUMEROUS PLACES INCLUDING UNDER THE SEAT BUT COS I`M A SHORT ARSE IT WOULD GET SQUASHED UNDER THERE SO EVENTUALLY I PUT THE UNIT IN THE TOOLBOX
AND PICKED UP A LIVE FEED FROM THE TAIL LIGHT.. ALL THE WIRES NOW COME OUT OF A NEW SLOT IN THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE BOX ...WHEN I DONT NEED THE INTERCOM I CAN TAKE IT OUT AND THE BLANKING PLATE THAT GOES IN THE HOLE TO COVER THE HOLE IN THE TOOLBOX LID.. THEN COVERS THE NEW SLOT THATS IN THE TOOLBOX!! DOES THAT MAKE SENSE??? P.S. THANKS FOR THE PICCY`S GUYS PUT I`VE GOT AN 1150 NOT THE 1200 AS IN THE PHOTOS CHEERS AND SAFE RIDING :-)

What have you got plugged into the passenger lead? Is it some kind of waterproof connector to stop the water getting into it?

Where did you get it from?

Yes, a diy job made from a cut down plug filled with black silcone :D

(Sorry for taking so long to reply.........Broadband dead!!......ORANGE ARE RUBBISH!!!)
