Weve got 2 autocoms to mount on our 800GSs and not sure on what to do with the radios (Kenwood TK-3201). Think ive got all the info sorted for the autocom itself (thanx to the thread in the 800gs section) but couldnt find much info on what do with the radio.

A few people have mentioned tank bags but if possible would like to mount the radio on the handlebars so that the antenna is pointing skywards and hence works better. Anyone managed to find a bracket thats secure and offers a waterproof option? Had a look around the internet but no luck :(

PS If we end up with the tankbag option is it ok to extend the 5-pin radio lead without affecting interferance much?

Cheers

You can get an Autocom 5 pin din Extension lead for the Kenwood which works fine.

I'm waiting on a Intaride IR 803 radio to arrive. I'm thinking of putting it on the handlebars to get better reception. (I did order a remote antenna kit as well, but as I want to use its FM receiver function as well, I need to be able to control it).

Im going to give RAM man a call next week, but I think I may have to make a small metal bracket which bolts onto the Zumo mount and then figure out how to attach the radio securely - velcro may be enough, but a thumb screw would give peace of mind.

As the Intaride radios arent IP rated, I'm just going to cover it in a small see through plastic bag and tie it at the bottom with a rubber band. If its raining :D
