Where was I today

I dont know Coolcarbon I thought it was a bit high up from the Loch to be the Inversnaid carpark and we where on the subject of the Dukes pass my guess was The Achray Hotel :nenau

Where abouts are you parked there Bennysdad

Its Inversnaid Hotel but luckily I was not one of the coaches parked there. These are Lochs and Glens 14 meter Volvo B12 and the biggest I have driven up there, in good weather I would add, is a 12 meter coach and that was bad enough. The Lochs and Glens drivers are there on a daily basis in the high season but sometimes get caught out and have to send the passengers over the loch on the ferry to be picked up on the other side.

Cheers Bennysdad ,Ive got my PCV and was thinking of a wee shot at the tour buses ,is it OK or should I avoid like the Plague ,Ive seen the adverts for the Tyndrum based company looking for drivers(Highland Heritage).

The coaches are full of bald heads and blue rinse's and they terrorise Tyndrum in packs!
A young new driver would be fresh meat, youunng maaaaan!:hug

Highland Heritage is owned and run by a guy named Ian Cleaver, only spoken to him briefly once but seems ok. The Hotels and trips he runs always seem fully booked so job wise it should be secure. He started with nothing I hear and built up a large concern so fair play to him.:)

Highland Heritage tend to take on drivers at the start of the season and lay them off in the winter. I work for a company that does the tours for other companies like Urquharts and Glentons as well as general work like school trips, airport transfers, corporate travel, football fans and other event travel. They also run a couple of local service runs and some school buses so there has always been enough work to keep all the drivers steady throughout the year.

In theory I only work part time (only 31 hours in the last 3 days) so I don't do the coaching holiday stuff but the guys that are on that regularly like it and the tips make up for the otherwise pretty average wages. I prefer getting some of the corporate groups and sticking with their schedule for a few days. You end up with some pretty varied groups and visiting some interesting venues. It really depends on how varied you like your work to be and how much you dislike anti social hours and hanging about waiting for your passengers, even the high profile ones.

I'm guessing... Inversnaid Hotel...:nenau

Ah the Inversnaid Hotel! Now there's a place a good landslide would do wonders for! Popped in there on a run only to be served with very grumpy staff and poor quality high priced food. And a coach must have just left as the place reeked oh p*sh!!

Go for it Big Man. As Reg Varney used tae say: It's a great life on the buses :thumb

Edit: I ha'e these mental images in my heid noo: Big Jets drops some elderly tour passengers off at some scenic spot in the highlands. He gets oot his cab and ommits to lock the vehicle. He then "chins" some auld boy for saying, "Shut yer bus"...:blast
