Where's the best place for paintwork?

Hi all,

I've just managed to get an adventure tank for my 1100gs. It's currently in the white aluminium, and the paint is mint. I've got a spare from and rear mudguard to paint, so I won't have to mess with my originals.

I've been told that the white aluminium is very hard to match, so who will do the best job...............either on just the mudguards, or if necessary, a full paint job to Marakesh red or something similar.

I do want the paint to be up to BMW standard as I am a bit fussy about my shiney bits.........

In my experience - NOBODY likes trying to match the Weiss Alu finish.

Where are you?- my BMW dealer (Lind of Norwich - bike part now closed) did a good job - their paint shop is still open (for the 4 wheel side of the business). You might try getting a quote from your local BMW dealer.

I tried 'Chips Away' (franchise run stonechip repairers - you'll find them in your Yellow Pages), but the particular chap who turned up wasn't keen on doing it...

Might end up having to go for a full respray at this rate

I will probably have a full set af Kalahari yellow available after I've sorted this out

Hi,

Unless the Chips Away guy, or any paint shop has the dedicated colours for bikes then I doubt they'll be able to match it.

Let me have a look at my colour chips tomorrow to see if have the tint codes for that colour - day off today. If I have, and you only want front & rear mudguards doing it shouldn't cost more than about £100 or so to do both.

And I'll do me best to get them up to BMW standard

Basically, if I do them and you're not happy then I do them again until you are - furry muff
