Scotboxers pics were taken near the buildings in the background of my pics (which in turn were taken from the little beach with the person standing on it in Scotboxers second pic).
Cunning Fox you're close, it's about 5 miles further on from Achmelvich. :thumb

aye......................

it's no Achmelvich (am no in the photies) though similar. Certainly the west coast some whaur. Last time I saw net drying poles like thon wis on the islands.:(

Well done Jurassic!

Clachtoll it is. A wee gem of a place. I was up there at the weekend. The four poles were for hanging up the salmon nets. Salmon fishing took place into the 70s or maybe even later. None now afaik. Foxy was close with Achmelvich. It's just around the headland to the south.

Dinnae tell anyone about these places. They'll get too popular!

Did you stay on the campsite? Nice folks that run it, and know a bit about the area too. We stayed there last April in the van for a few days and walked over to the ruined broch between there and Stoer. The wee museum thing about the salmon fishing was fascinating too, it seems a shame that the place was such a hive of activity until so recently and now it's all finished (progress I suppose:confused:). I rode through on my bike last month and stopped for a picnic there before continuing on round the mad coast road.
