Which 12v Air compressor?

I got sick and tired of 12v air pumps and bought a garage compressor!

see lot lads on advrider in states buy small 12v pump, strip it down and fit under seat with connection to battery or fuse box. the hose it removed and fitted only when required.

at home i still use my lidl comp and a good pressure gauge to check it once done

Thanks folks. Seems like the best idea is to get a good pressure guage and do as has been suggested above.

I knew something was wrong this morning when a lad took a wheelbarrow out of his van and went to put 20 psi in or something. Well, needless to say we both got a surprise when it went BANG!!!:D

They're heavy them psi's.

Well, he might have been putting in 10 psi but the pump was fubar. I knew I had about 32psi in the front. Plugged in the air compressor and it read 18psi:rolleyes: Put in a tiny amount of air and it said 50psi:eek: That wheelbarrow didn't stand a chance:D

TK Maxx usually have some Ring or Roston mini 12v pumps in their automotive section (bigger stores i guess) from £7 to £12 i've seen.

I've got that Wilco one and it works great. Be aware that you need to plug it to the battery direct on a 1200gs and the Canbus on the accessory socket will shut down. I also trimmed down some of the casing and it takes up to no room and sits in my top box. The gauge on the Ring is crap and well worth getting a decent gauge.

Remove the supplied gauge and substitute a Schrader valve - then you can check the px with your preferred gauge without removing the hose from the tyre valve

I once made the mistake of connecting a cheapo one to the valve before plugging it into the car socket.
By the time it was plugged in and brain registered the pump wasn't running the wiring was toast...

I like that. Looks like it could withstand a bit of knocking arround the place.

I'm sick and tired of badly calibrated garage forcourt air pumps.

Can anyone recommend a unit from here please?

Airman compact. Good value, reasonable size, good compressor. Flat to 42psi in 5 min. Gauge reading exactly the same as my digital gauge. Bought 8 for me and friends some years ago and in a garage check all were within +/-1psi to the same digi gauge. All 8 are well travelled, only 1 hasn't been used in anger. Much better than co2 epecially if the plug doesn't seal 1st time!:blast
I have a proper compressor in the garage for day to day use, so I just do a quick check run with the Airman from time to time to make sure it still ok. I wouldn't want to carry it around with me if it was buggered when i needed it:thumb2
