Engine guards / bars?

Anyone with experience of them having to do their intended jobs views would be much appreciated.

I'll be interested in having some fitted, but which, by popular opinion, are the best. I'd prefer the bike to not end up looking like a scaffold tower, but obviously want some engine protection that works within reason.

I think the original equipment BMW ones look the best by far, only tried them once and due to the saiting finish it is hard to see the scuff, and being stainless they dont rust either. :thumb

Depends on what speed you think you're going to drop the bike at?

Low speed < 5mph(?) the plastic head protectors seem to do the job of protecting the metal.

Bit faster < 20 mph(?) engine bars, with the plastic bits just as a back up.

Faster then 20 mph, make sure the insurance is good.

All IMHO, YMMV and personal experience :o

Also depends on what bike you have of course. :mmmm

John,

You're right there of course, anything much above suburban street speeds will result in a mess. I'd be banking on not dropping aany bike I own, it hurts much less that way.
