been looking at getting Harley and seem drawn to either a 1200 CB ( the base 1200 model like the custom CB in Denim mat ( excuse me if I get the models wrong.. OR a soft tail FXD ??

any one offer some pointers,, Ive sat on a few other models and these seem to fit my shorter frame..
cheers and Hope its not such a daft question as to be insulted over and over again :comfort

cheers

FXD

IF you like cornering go for the FXD. The suspension design on the softtail means it dips as you wind it on coming out of corners, which drags the footboards. You will get used to it but it tends to spook pillions.

Normally I would say try before you buy, but with a £1500 excess you are unlikely to corner hard enough to get the Softtail dragging.

cheers,
I like to corner, but mostly used for cruising/posing on a sat pm down the high st, some runs into and around London, don't think I'd tour on it..

budget... Im selling my 07 plate GS to part fund it,, or swop? or I will stick my neck out and look at a late used one for the right bike,,:thumb2

No probs with cornering on a softail. :nenau

Anyway scrapping the footboards is half the fun and fit a single seat then you don't have to concern yourself with pillions. :thumb2

Heritage will be fine just don't start with the sportys or you will be trading in within a year for the real thing.

Cvo ultra and 1200 gs owner .

The Dynas are the most 'normal' of the big twins. They mostly have mid mounted pegs and decent suspension. Good VFM, basic, fast (relatively) and endlessly customisable

Under NO circumstances buy a Heritage and tell this lot

I agree to a Dyna will be a good place to start maybe it ill suit you.

The way they price them here in the US the Dyna is arguably the best value. If you're not in a hurry I imagine 2014's will have the 103 motor.
