which bike for a newbie to Harley

Great advice, chaps..( is that Harley talk,, or just the wear?:thumb)

Think a run up to Black bear is in order, or Lakeside? tho they don't seem to carry much stuff to ride..

I have ridden an early V rod and as good as it is, I think I'd prefer something a little more traditional..:thumb2

cheers :thumb2

cheers I will check opening times for Black Bear,,

Street bob seems to be catching my eye?? any opinions?:)

Don't rule out a Fat Boy..... they're addictive!

Funnily enough I've got a Fatboy as a loaner at the moment, the lack of braking from the single disc was a shock. It vibrates a bit at cruising speed, and has harsher suspensionand is less comfortable than my Road king. But it's a bit lighter, and much easier to get at the valves for tyre pressure checks so swings and roundabouts.

I do find the rear brake more effective, I must say. I love the Stage 2 tuning on mine, fast as feck - had it up to a ton (lying flat on the tank!)

I guess you've borrowed it from Sycamores? I'm a Stamford lad originally, parents still live up there so might pop in when I'm up next.

You do know they're different bikes? ;)

why not Denim?,,, I actually liked it?...

Because it's the worst paintjob in the history of paint jobs. HD are using water based paints to get past the environmentalists but this stuff is truly shite. They claim it wears to a patina, but what they really mean is it wears off. The slightest touch and it scratches and dead bugs make it shiny. Apart from that, fill yer boots :thumb

I thought ALL manufacturers now had to use water based paints, not just HD, hence the reason why modern paints are all pretty much shite :nenau

The question is about a Harley Davidson paint job, on a Harley Davidson motorcycle. The original post is in the Harley Davidson section. My answer was an explanation of why this specific paint job by this specific manufacturer isn't, in my humble opinion, very good. :nenau

I'm not sure that the OP would have been helped by an explanation of why Yamaha's paint is not as good as it used to be :blast

Errr...many thanks for pointing out what section we are in. :blagblah :P

My post was only really a friendly general comment regarding modern paint quality per se, and that it isn't only HD who have to "get past the the environmentalists" with shit water based paint, everyone does - thats all !

No offence/irritation intended:thumb2

Thanks, for comments about paint, Ive just read another thread that matches your opinion,,, I do like the old patina concept but not due to a crap paint job,,,

Reckon Gloss black then,,, or ??? cheers for all help.:thumb2

I've got a denim black Street Bob, no issues with the finish on mine. Had it 18 months now and it still looks good:nenau

Just make sure you get a nice colour.
