I serviced my R1150RT for 6 yrs, and now my 2011 GSA since new. I have always fancied a bike lift so as to be able to do it at waist height rather than on my knees.

Any one can give feedback on the use of these, how safe are they? ( a bit concerned about the stability of such a thing with a GSA on it up in the air.

I see several on EBay for sale in the region of £250 - £350 again any feedback on any of them.

I have a single flat roof garage with the concrete floor covered in carpet, so height might be an issue (have to remove bike screen before jacking up), I also have a large carport where height is not an issue, the drive being block paved.

I saw one once, forget the make, which folded down for storage?

Any advice or experiences with such things appreciated. :nenau:nenau

Buy the best manual lift for the casual motorcycle tinkerer. SAL or Stewart Allen Lifts made in Cumbria. Expect to pay a bit more but the lift is better in my opinion.

I use a Sealey lift, MC401 luckily I got in as new condition off ebay for £200, in 2005 they come up used occasionally, I am happy to recommend because its used every few months on average for the last 7 years, its had a K1200LT R1200RT R1100RT on it, all nice and stable, it has a detachable load ramp, a removable panel to drop the rear wheel and a front wheel clamp, I stuck some emery sheets along the centre line to give better grip and stop the centre stand skidding, a worthwhile mod on any bench, I think this type of bench is more stable than the "scissor" type but needs more space forward you do need to think about height as well or remove the screen.

Once you have one you will never want to crawl around on your knees again!

I cut a piece of ply from the case mine came in. Fits on the top nicely and is grippier than the metal surface. Much quieter too when you're putting your tools down.

The Easzy Rizer and Big Blue are like a fork lift. A bracket clamps to the footrests and a none slip plate sits under the engine sump or bash plate. A power drill winds the whole thing up. It's very stable has no hulking table to get in the way and it stores easily. They cost about £300 new but 1/2 that eBay or Gumtree.
The only snag for a Beemer boxer is you can't use one to change the clutch. Though brackets might exist to do that as well.

I used one of these, highly recommend.

A tip for you
Park the bike on the side stand
Mark some lines where the centre of the wheels touch the ground
Not moving the bike forward or backwards until you have it upright
Put the bike up on the centre stand

That will show you what overall length you require,
I had to extend the front on the deck on mine to get bikes more centralised and what I considered more stable

The worst so far 1150gsa even with the extension I have to move them forward once they're on the stand or the rear puts too much weight on the flimsy removable wheel ramp

Clarke from Machinemart for me for six years and still going strong.

As others have said go for the bigger lift. you will wish you had purchased one years ago once you start useing it. its a bit of a handfull getting a gsa onto the table. i fitted extra lashing loops to mine. one other benifit is that it can be locked in the raised position, making it a little harder to steal the bike
