Thinking of changing my brake pads, front and rear on my 1100gs in the winter months and could do with some advice as to which pads would be best given there's such a choice. Mostly all my riding is on roads with hardly any off roading. Would it matter anyway?

So, what brake pads do you use and is there much difference between brands?

I had never heard of the DP pads until a local shop stocked them so tried a set on my last 636 sports bike with good results so would use them quite happily on the GS ........... and they are cheaper than Ferodo and EBC :thumb

Has anyone used the DP pads long enough to find out the impact on your discs?

Some sintered pads can be bastards, EBC HH and those Goldfecked ones you see about which managed to wear quick and wear the disc...

I have used EBC bads for the last five years now. Now sintered in my last bike ( Varadero) and I now have them on hold to put to my GS. Never heard anything abnormar wear on discs using them. In fact if I remember correctly EBC offers only sintered pads to GS. Same with Vara.

That was my concern, but so far OK using the DP pads, they don't seem as aggresive as the EBC sintered pads, maybe they don't use so much "lubricants*" in the friction material or perhaps they use softer types.

*basically the lubricants used in sintered pads are tiny pieces of metal mixed in with the friction material .

Cheers Steptoe, the EBC HH's i used to use were great when hot, wooden when cold, hard wearing but hard on the discs. The Goldfarts were soft and fecked the rear disc... quite how I'm not so sure:augie

Been using Ferodo's for a bit but may give these a go....
