Hi.
Would appreciate any advice on which pads to fit my 1200 gs 09.

Ferodo Platinum or DP HH sintered or others?

Many thanks,
Jack

Original! :D long lasting, stop well, dont wear the disc out, Known performance, were you happy with your brakes? (I assume this is the 1st change?)

Ferodo Platinum for me - from the GS Shop. Better than the OEM's. I might try the Brembo's next time though.

they are brembo. if you get them listed and packaged as 'bmw' from the dealer...this is what i was quoted £130 for fronts and back last year. if you by from a brembo re-seller they are approx £90. as far as i'm aware they are the same product.

ferodos fine on the front for me, a bit softer than oem maybe (more dust) but a third the bmw price (from sherlocks)

Brembo pads...by far the best things to fit ...IMHO
The OE pads are not made by Brembo
These give little to no feed back & feel...quite the opposite with the Brembo.

This does beg the question which is most likely on cost ...why fit brembo calipers and discs...but not their pads

who does make them? odd that bmw would fit calipers and discs made by brembo, but buy someone else's pads. not saying that isn't the case, but it is a bit odd :eek

anyway, i like the OEM pads.

Replacement Pads from your BMW Dealer will have the bonded shim on the backplate. No one else supplies such pads. I tried everyone to obtain these pads outside of the BMW Dealer network but it did not seem possible. In the end I ordered a set advertised by Motobins as O.E.M. Brembo. They have a different colour back plate and do not have the bonded shim, but at £62 delivered they are half the price of the dealer supplied item. And they seem to work ok, if a little noisey. As a matter of interest I was told by an independent Bike mechanic that all Brembo bike pads are now made in Sweden by S.B.S. and packaged and marketed by Brembo !!.

Having used SBS on Harley's for many years, I found they performed well, despite the woeful early single pot callipers, and became even better on the later 4 pots, I will be trusting them for my GS when I change
