I'm looking for something for hydration whilst riding on tours and during Summer months.

I reckon Camelbak packs are the ones to go for but which one, any ideas?

The Mule looks good IMO

Depends on what jacket you wear whilst riding. I have a Master IV (Hein Gericke) that has a large rear "bum" pocket that I can slide a 2 litre Camel Bak in. Costs about £20.00 - also available from Hein Gericke. It is extremely easy to fill up and keep clean and the jacket "routes" the drinking pipe directly to your mouth so you don`t have to take your hands off the bars as you drink. I cannot rate this set up highly enough and it recently earned its keep on the BMW offroad course :thumb :thumb :thumb

picked one up from halfords (rucksack type) has a couple of small storage spaces on it for a mobile / camera / chocky bar £20 > £60 plenty of choice

My local ASDA has been selling gerber 2lt "camelbacks" for £11.99. I bought one as a spare to my genuine camelback, and it's just as well made, with all the pockets and stowage bungees. :thumb

Two Vital specs though as must have:
1. great big filler cap, easier to fill and you can get your hand in to clean.
2. a liner on the hose, this helps very well to keep your fluid cold, otherwise the first couple of mouthfulls are very warm :barf

Also good for dropping in half a dozen ice cubes in!!

Camelback sell this as an optional extra :spitfire And it's about £12!!!

So I tend to do this with the first couple of swigs (or worse ask MadMikey :D )

and keep the £12 for fuel and buns...

Of course if I was on desert detail I wouldn't be so irresponsible and those warm couple of swigs would still be precious to my body  :beerjug:

Or, when you finished taking a drink, blow the water back down the tube into the reservoir.

Blow and bite? That's a technique I haven't mastered yet :D
Probably best to practice by chewing gum and walking, at the same time, first, then.....

;)

last time i was in tesco's they had camelbak copies for £10. Didn't have a good look, but from what i saw they didn't look too bad.

Decathlon do a nice range of hydration packs......I've got a 2 litre jobby with a 4 litre rucksack thingy....several pockets, map compartment, two pouches on the waist band and it was only a penny under 20 notes.....it's very comfy (My camelback™ 2 litre one used to give me shoulder and left arm ache for some reason) and has adjustable tighteners all over so it's not all flappy at speed when the rucksack is empty.

Recommended :thumb

I can recommend them :thumb

Mule is good...

Have had one for a while - very comfortable to wear, easy to fill - and with the optional insulated tube survived the Nevada desert and 113 degrees (which is more than can be said for me...).
Not cheap but outstanding quality.

I bought one from Tescos today, £9.97, looks well made, it has a big opener for ice and some neat little zip up pockets for smaller bits and pieces. Nice one I thought :thumb

I saw the tesco version this afternoon.

2Ltr water storage, 6 ltr rucksack, very compact with all the usual pockets and bungee storage. :thumb

Not funny, I thought it was my suit breathing and letting the sweat out!

An alternative is one that goes in your tankbag (if you use one).

Advantages are that it's easy to re-fill, not buried in your jacket adding weight or over it with shoulder straps making your jacket stick to your back more than it already does.

Above is made by Source. The orange coloured bit slides off and leaves a full width opening for filling, cleaning or adding ice.
