Which Crash Helmet ?

I'm looking for a new lid,which i may buy at the show, if there are any deals on?
Narrowed it down to 3 and would be interested in anyones views on these.

Comfort,ease of use and noise levels.

The Multitech has flip front but the Tour X obviously doesn't.

If you are considering the Tour X then why not the Shoei Hornet DS ?

It's lighter and quieter.

I have always worn AGV Helmets until the last two weeks.

We have just completed a charity mototrcycle ride covering 1200 miles in Rajistan India on an Enfield Bullet.

We were advised to go for a motox type helmet, this one came with a visor which I added a pair of Oakley goggles with quick straps.

The helmet cost £ 100 and was super comfy from the word go.

I'd just beware of the flip front helmets if you've never tried them - they're heavy, uncomfortable and noisy IMHO.

Full face Arai/Shoei normally fits the bill.

IMHO, the Multi-tech wins hands down if you want in-helmet speakers, you don't even know they are there.

depends on the shape of your head arai is best for me and they do a fitting at most 5 star dealers or go to a bsb race and go to the arai van

I've had both Tour X and Hornet.

I had my first Hornet in about 2002,used it for a few years and then bought a Tour X but have now gone back to latest Hornet.

With regards to peaks,the Hornet is brilliant.I used mine for 2000 miles over Alps and back in Sept and took both clear and tinted visors.But I ended up just using the clear as the peak was just fine for shielding out direct sunlight.

As for the Hornet being a copy of the Tour X-I bought my first Hornet in Japan when the Tour X was even on sale.

It's just that Shoei only started importing them to UK in last 18 months or so.

But you need to try both and see which fits better.

One thing for sure,the Hornet is a lot lighter,has a much better visor fitment system and is MUCH quieter at speed-I don't even normally bother with my earplugs when using it,it's that good.The Tour X was deafening.

But if you have a Twat Suit I guess you need a Twat Helmet to complete the transformation.

Shoei multitech for me. I've done 4k miles with mine - no earplugs, comfy and I can breathe when it's hot
I had a Shoei full face, but won't go back to it now.

Have owned a C2...........most uncomfortable and noisiest for me...........it was sold within 2 wks of daily use. Guess it all depends on the shape of your head, etc. etc.

Just goes to show, you've got to try them rather than just taking advice

Sorrty to argue on this one GS Monkey, but the Shoei Multitech is not uncomfortable if its a "good fit" ie back to the Shoei/Arai discussion.
It is also better balanced than its predecessor.

As said before on this thread- it all depends on the lids usage.

Flip front when touring or having to stop a few times on your journey to talk etc then yes-Ideal, I used one for many years ... the make is up to personal choice - what fits as in the case of all lids.

Off raod lid like the tourX is brilliant and great for on road too , expensive but again if it fits....

I wouldn't chose a make of lid by just recomendation alone, I was lucky as both my BMW Carbon Evo lid and my Tour X fitted perfect.

First chose the 'style/type of lid' then go round trying on as many makes as you can. If it doesn't feel 100% right when you are trying it out-then forget it, that niggle will only get worse unless it's a small tweak with thicker pads...
