Which Dealer?

I've bought 5 bikes from Vines, and 2 from Bahnstormer Maidenhead. Great service from both.:thumb

Next time I buy a bike, I won't go anywhere else, so whichever of these does the best deal, will get my business.

Not bought a bike from Wollaston Motors at Northampton, but when I have ordered spares or had work done on the bikes, they have been exceptional, in my opinion. I think they are part of the same group as North Oxford.

+2 Got my GS from vines great service from them, they make you fell welcome.

Dealt with 4 during my BMW years.

Rainbow... 3new bikes, 2 used

Astle...2 new bikes, 4 used

Barry Robson...1 new, 4 used

Eddies..(Hull) no longer in business.

BMW after sales is generally very good,it has to be because the initial product is sadly often lacking.

I'm not one of these folks that you see all to often in BMW dealerships,it's all to pally pally for me.
At the end of the day I've given them my hard earned and I expect a level of service. The salesman or the service manager are not my mates they're there to provide me with a service.

Under the surface every BMW dealer I've dealt with thinks their doing you a favour, but at the end of the day, lets be fair, BMW have been left behind in the quality and development stakes but they still want a premium price for their product, so they have to add 15% to the purchase price to deal with the cost of the many many warranty claims.

As for the dealers I feel they have an inherent arrogance that they do not expect to be challenged and are generally full of the proverbial.

I spoke to one of the senior engineers at the Birmingham show this year. Allit did for me was to confirm that I would be very unlikely to buy BMW again.

"BMW have left behind in the quality and development stakes....." what utter trolling tosh :)

Looking to buy a GSA TE shortly - nearly new or new.

Never been blown away by any particular dealer over the past 6 years of owning a BMW.

Any recommendations on dealer you would buy from?

And your reasons why - Quality of service? - Deal done? - Location?

TIA

Perhaps too far away for you but I have had 3 new bikes from Balderston since 2005, they do all of my servicing and I get most of my bike gear from there too - I guess that must mean they are pretty good otherwise I would have gone elsewhere :)

I don't believe to my knowledge that I have ever posted anything on here that could be considered to be "trolling".

I would assume that most folks replies to threads, as are mine, are based on their own knowledge and experience.

As pointed out by another poster within this thread, he was lied to by some at dealerships, well so was I. I was told blatant lies by both the sales and service departments of a well known dealership, this should never ever happen.

As for quality and development, it is my belief based on my knowledge and experience that BMW are now falling behind in these areas.

Whilst it's unlikely that I shall ever purchase another new BMW I'm not saying I never will, but for me they will have to change their approach.

They need to ensure that their product is right before releasing it, rather than chucking millions at the not inconsiderable number that fail.

As I said, it's my opinion based on fact.

I'm gonna say cannons fantastic service and staff altho it's miles away from you.

North Oxford.. top Guys , helpful and high integrity.
Williams Manchester ... great prices , a bit more "rough n ready" . Both dealers I'd strongly recommend.

A previous poster said "BMW after sales is generally very good,it has to be because the initial product is sadly often lacking."

Too true !

This is me too, what are peoples experiences of having bought a bike that wasn't from a local dealer then taking it there for servicing or problem solving going forward?

We all love riding these machines and seek best deal/customer service, maybe as it's only "x-time/distance from home so think I'm happy to ride there for servicing & any warranty issues so I'll buy from a dealer that's not local". I wonder from your experiences how much to factor this into the thought process of where to buy!

Cheers Jonno

Another vote here for Bahnstormer in Alton.

Sensible trade-in value for an old bike previously, a good deal on a new one, getting in for a service is never too long a wait, and they are decent people to have a chat with. I actually bought my current bike elsewhere, but that wasn't through choice.

...and I find the showroom far more welcoming and 'homely' than some of the big glassy ones I've been to elsewhere...fwiw

Another vote for Bahnstormer, but this time the Maidenhead.

Just like Wrinkleyowlie I have owned a number of different bikes over a number of years, but my personal experience of BMW is completely different to his.
In particular Bahnstormer have been one of the best dealerships I've dealt with. No they're not my best mates, but they are very friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff who I enjoy dealing with. They take an interest in you as a customer and want to do their best for you - just as it should be.
No BMW haven't been left behind in development and quality. I think they produce a range of great bikes and the one I own has been extremely good so far. In fact I've had more problems with other makes over the years.

In terms of all round service Bahnstormer have been brilliant :thumb

Vines

Vines Guildford for me. Many bikes from them. And always well looked after.

Avoid chandlers Brighton awful

Bahnstormer Maidenhead gets my vote. As some members will know, I had a vibration issue with my GS TE, and Dean from Bahnstormer was fantastic and really supported me with resolving the issue.

Just bought my new RT from Dick Lovetts and very pleased with the deal.
I have had services done by them on other bikes and very impressed with the service and care taken with my bikes and I am very picky.
Their work shop is a bike only set up and is immaculate.

Clarkes in Rednal did me a great deal when I got my GS.they have been taken over by the Blade Group now so I don't know how that will affect them
