It looks like my '09 GS will be making way for a '11 very shortly. My Touratech head guards will obviously not fit on the DOHC heads. I've been looking at Machine Art Moto ones.....

Anyone using these and able to report on them...?

TIA

No idea what the cost is but why not look at the BMW adventure head guards? You know they will fit well and they are a pretty substantial bit of kit. Look a lot better than a lump of plastic as well.

BMW ADV head guards seem to be very good but I haven't had to 'try them out' yet.

The new camhead Touratech ones are much closer fitting than their old style 1200 ones and they were selling like hot cakes at the Touratech Travel Event Sale in may.

I'd go for Machine Art ones Mike as they'll protect the heads from scuffs if you drop it, but won't shear the threaded bosses on the heads like metal ones can if they're too rigid.

Exactly what I'm thinking, Steve. I just wanted to know if anyone had tried them out in the real world.....:augie

Sadly I have tried the adventure ones and they worked great. There is plastic under the alloy moulded to the covers so I don't see how they can sheer unless it was a big off. If its a big one then you have bigger problems. It really comes down to preference on the looks as they probably all do an equal job. To me a big lump of plastic looks cheap but at $200 they are far from it.
