Which engine bars?

I don't know. Which engine bars are the best and where is the best place to get them? :augie

No seriously, I've read a number of posts on the site but never had a definative answer. I've just saved up 300sobs for either H&B or SW Motechs The only thing I know for sure is I aint paing in excess of 500 quid for the BMW ones.

If I knew how I'd start a pole.

C'mon guys, answer the question. :type

I bought the SW Motech upper and lowers.
Look good, easy to fit and look like they'd do the business.
Got from a firm on eBay from Germany. Delivered free and about £100 cheaper than NN's.
Hope this helps. :beerjug:

I have the genuine BMW bars. You know they will do the trick.:D

Touratech are nice

Which are those Goose?

There's a couple of companies manufacturing them now...

Wunderlich, ALTRider.....

I like the concept and design (haven't got a set yet - the ZAR to GBP/USD is still too horrendous) and as you can see from the pics below... they really do keep the pots safe....

Just fitted me a full set (lower and uppers) of SW Motech bars which with the exception of the small fiddley bolt just above the cylender head went on easily enough and look great.

As for the aforementioned fiddley bolt - it was an absolute bugger and I resolved the problem by using a slightly longer one that I had in my garage bits-n-pieces box. Having said that, it seems to be the weakest link in the whole process and find it hard to believe that the bolt (or any similar sized bolt) would hold out in drop at any speed.

I'm guessing its probably the same for all the other make of bars as well? :nenau

Hi Goose.

Did you order yours advdesigns direct, or have you found a uk supplier?

Thanks

Mate - I was about to place an order for the AdvDesign or Altrider version - however on the day before I was going to do this... a very kind forum member here was selling a set at a helluva good price! :thumb

I have fitted them and cannot believe it's not part of the standard design by BMW... offers massive extra protection!

Tank protection bars..

Any help or advice would be appriated.I would like to fit tank protection bars to an 04 GS 1200. My engine protection bars and cylinder head protection covers are from Touratech. Recently Touratech produced tank protection but for the 08 model on. When I contacted them, I was informed they will not be making them for the older model GS. Has anyone fitted tank protection bars from any other manufacture or the original GSA bars to Touratech engine bars. Thanks...
