Which Engine Bars?

In my personal opinion for what it's worth....are bars or any cover really going to protect the cylinder cover.

I had a pair of TT bars, but these bent back into the engine when I droped the bike fully loaded and made more damage than without, I also have the plastic BMW protectors and these have marked the cover, leaving little dents where the touch points are!

My point is if you go down, apart from minor drops then it's more cost effective just to have nothing and damage the cover on the cylinder and just replace it, rather than damaging both the protection device for the cover and the cover itself!

There's also BIG problems with the mounting points where the cylinder covers screw into the magnesium casing, there too weak and the screws end up stripping the threads.

Anyway just a thought! :thumb

I got the touratech crash bars, it looks good and its build is much more solid that the original BMW ones.

It cost a bit more but then everything in South Africa cost more...
