I'm thinking of getting a new can for my GSA LC, would love the akro but am struggling with the price tag

What others are people using and would recommend :D

I asked the same question. The answer is the same. Ebay is your friend but you do pay a premium for the akrapovic. Get it from Italy.

Marlou , the reason it costs more...is because its better ! better materials , better design , better quality craftsmanship.
You get what you pay for .

Thanks for that, I know why it's more expensive I was enquiring what other people had put on so I could make a comparison. Ie did fit ok, did it sound ok and did it improve performance.:thumby:

The akro is without doubt the best.:bow

Not true IMO
I had an Akro on my old TC but bought a Yoshimura for my LC and i thought that the yoshi was a better bit of kit. Some makes are certainly inferior to the Akro but Yoshimura isn't

To the OP have a look at Yoshimura they are very nice and sound fantastic

Don't bother with a new can the performance gain is not noticeable. The best gains are from getting the bike hilltopped then if you want to you can do the headers. Get second hand ones and you can have your bike sorted for less than the price of a new can.
I know all this because I did it all in the wrong order,
Second hand Akro, £450, more noise.
Second hand headers, £350, even more noise and smoother running and maybe a bit more at the top end.
Hilltop, £350, no extra noise ,more power and torque, much smoother, it makes the bike much sweeter to ride.

+ 1

I've had Akro and Yoshi pipes on other bikes and I would say they are equal in terms of materials, build quality etc.

Of all of the less expensive brands I have always found Scorpion and GPR to be very good. Very good quality finish, use good material and look and sound great...and both do cans for between £200 and £300ish in a range of materials. Definitely worth checking out IMHO

I have a combination of Mivv headers and a Leo Vince silencer. I think it sounds great, although steer clear of the Carbon version (or any carbon exhaust) as the GS seams to kill them. Mine melted.....

Fitted this last week, the quality is exceptional and its sounds mega, no performance gain that I can tell but I like it a lot

Bought a bike with an Akropovic, removed it and for me, much better, less noise, more engine braking, easier to ride slow (30 limits etc).

In the real world, the bike is way fast enough for me as standard.

As indicated in a previous post I got a Fuel exhaust. About to have the hanger put on it & then photos will placed onto their web site (they used the bike as a pattern). I've been very happy with it - not excessive noise but better than the suppressed sound on the standard & so much lighter.
uncertain what the final figure would be - I suggest contacting Louise who will be able to provide price & date when they will be available - say where you heard it from as there was some interest in getting a discount should there be sufficient numbers of people interested.
Wish you the best!

Ps
I'm not on a commission merely wishing to support a local British Co - just in case some 'nay sayer' wishes to make some smart comment!

Yes , second that.

I had a Fuel Titanium Oval on my last bike, a Fazer 1K and it was a nice well made can for a very good price.

Hi re movement. It does move slightly but I'd suggest it's bound to when really revving it. I've a temporary bracket it on it at the mo as the laser cut bracket is about to be fitted.
I'd suggest the video shows more than it really does.

Hi

Am I the only person to only have changed an exhaust when the old one has rotted? It was a Motad 4/1 on my Z1000J.

I don't understand the desire to make more noise, bringing attention to yourself and the added discomfort on a longer journey, not just for you but travelling companions as well.

The statement that its 5kgs lighter is somewhat negated I suspect by the 6kgs of TT bling on a lot of bikes, and in my case, probably 10kgs that could be lost on a diet:beer:

Any extra power seems to be available at the upper end of the revs where, my bike doesn't spend that much time. Licence preservation and mechanical sympathy win out..plus if 115BHP isn't enough for you, then there is the S1000XR.
Each to there own obviously, but the two H's of headers and hilltop seem the way

Now exactly when did the OP say oat about power gains, weight gains or re-maps? Perhaps he just want to change the look of the Bike, his money his choice.

For me on the TC I went with black Yoshi, looks good sounds good but not too load.

Can you post a link to where you bought it please ?

For me I like to keep it standard if possible. I do add fender extenders and stuff like but none of that laser cut protector bling for every light and sensor on the bike. A bit of luggage and that's it. JJH

Thanks for all the post's, personally I've never liked a standard can as I like the sound of an aftermarket. I also believe it can let people know your there IMO. I've gone for the Akro, pricey I know but it does what I want it to do... The power hike is irrelevant to me as I don't really thrash it around..... Just a little spirited:green gri
