THINKING ABOUT CHANGING MY EXHAUST HAS ANYONE TRIED A ZARD OR AKROPOVIC WOULD APPRECIATE ANY FEEDBACK ON ANY AFTERMARKET ONE

Remus headers and Remus Powercone on mine (06 plate 1200GS non adv). Both purchased from Nippy Normans. Even with the baffle out it'll cruise around town without upsetting too many folks if you're gentle on the throttle. Blip the throttle and it gives a satisfying (and loud) 'bark', but give it some beans and although it's still quite loud, the tone mellows out - not as deep sounding as I seem to remember the BOS system was on the demo bike I rode, but very addictive none the less....

The can on its own added volume and not much else. Addition of the headers made the bike more willing to rev... and generally nicer to ride IMHO. No desperate reduction in fuel efficiency - still get ~220 miles to the tank commuting, and ~165 to the tank when having fun at weekends.
Done about 8k miles with this set up now, and no problems to report (apart from I find that I blip the throttle a bit more than I used to!!).

I ride with two guys who have put Akrapovic on theirs, and they look and sound glorious.

Headers...

I would just change the headers and leave the standard can. An aftermarket can sounds a bit better bit gives no power increase so I reckon it`s a lot of money for a little noise.

With cat free headers, the sound is more throuty and mine pops like a good `un on the over run which is not only highly addictive but has made the occasional power ranger what the f**k is going on when that monster GS has just gone past him.......!!:clap:clap

How about these?

If I remember correctly I think they were 1000 euros for the full system inc plate holder and the light bracket.

They sounded lovely too.

06 GS12,Full Remus System from new.Sounds nice, quality build,6000 miles on clock and Dyno'd bike on mobile unit at TT this year @ 95 BHP and 98 LBS Torque.Better figures than standard and probably better than BM headers with aftermarket can or Remus/Akra headers with std can.

Akro slip-on is musical

Much lighter in weight, nice tone without being too loud, I highly recommend it!:bow

I've had a full remus system on my GS12 and now on my GSA12. Had it set up on a dyno originally and checked again at 5K miles 107.8 BHP :clap

Bike has used just 100ml of oil since new and I'm on my third n/s rear indicator as they keep melting need to find a fix for that!!

CarbonCanCompany - Fleetwood Lancs.

I got this back in March when I first got the bike - £160 fitted.
Looks good - sounds good - fully legal - recommended.

Phil
