chaps, I'm looking to scour the market for a GPS for a 2009 GSA. not fusssed used or new. UK maps, but upgradeable to europe if/when necessary.
been using one in the car for years, and I'm not so much interested in the finer detail, but generally making sure I'm on the right road. bluetooth not essential.
what are you chaps using, any pro's/con's
ideally want a mount which is not to intrusive when the GPS is not mounted (which will likely be most of the time).
thanks in advance

I bought a secondhand Garmin Zumo 400 on ebay for my GSA. It works very well as a GPS, easy to use and touchscreen works with gloved fingers. Screen is adjustable for brightness but it can be difficult to read screen in bright sunlight if the sun is at certain angles. I think you can buy a shade for it but I havent bothered. Quick and easy to unclip from mounting if leaving the bike unattended.

It has music functions too and (I think) Bluetooth but I never use them so can't comment.

Its loaded with GB maps, not sure if it will take Europe upgrade.

Pretty pleased with it, would buy another if something happened to this one. :thumb

I forgot to mention the mounting cradle for my satnav had the BMW electrical connection already fitted so it simply plugs into the accessory socket beneath the headlight and works through the Canbus system.

A doddle to fit.

Miserable bastard that I am:

I have an iphone 4 with (in my case) TomTom all Europe maps on it. ( Circa £85 for all of Europe.) Free maps apparently equally good also available - See this site for details.
Rubber sucker type mount on inside of screen, This has charging facilities, phone answering & GPS signal booster in it. Used it all over Europe, with bluetooth to Helmet. It is not water resistant, but inside of screen does not get wet when I am riding.
Myke

I had a Zumo 400 and upgraded to a 550 its the dogs do das , awesome piece of kit does all the 400 did plus a bit more :thumb and if you look around you can pick them up for about £200 2nd hand .

Garmin Zumo. Not cheap but bloody good. Get the latest one you can afford. Great in the car or on the bike.

Guys, wow, thanks for the quick reply's. I had seen the Zumo range on fleabay and wondered how well received they were.
might just be able to slip onto my santa list before he gets too busy.

any more comments greatly appreciated
