Ohhhh jealous and bitter or what  :D

How's the Tour-x in the rain?

I'm looking at replacing my Nolan N100. I have a couple of almost-new System 4 lids that I rarely use, on short rides only. They're clunky, noisy and the visor hinges break a lot. I ride literaly every day of the year in rainy Seattle, Is the tour-x water-tight enough? Is it appropriate for cold, miserable weather? You guys in the UK should know a thing or two about riding in the rain, I'm told.

thanks, d.d.d.

this is the new special edition for the 1200
No it's not. It's a poorly corrupted Photoshop version of my lid. The original picture is, of course, copyrighted. You'll be hearing from my solicitor.

I'm sorry, but sometimes a thread comes up and try as I might, I just can't resist posting a reply. I apologise. I tried not to reply but I just had to....

In the end it doesn't matter as long as it's comfortable. No point in looking good (that's subjective anyway) if you're uncomfortable or you don't feel you can see properly.

Just one thing though, don't go open face whatever you do. Even a wasp at 80 mph is painful and grit, rain etc. are much better when they hit a chin bar and not a chin.

Called at HG Chester last week to look at the Tour-X and understand, perhaps wrongly, that they will be stopping making them shortly.

Better get one now then!

Do you wear earplugs with yours? I hate the bloody things and wonder if there's an option of something that deadens the noise to a more acceptable level rather than shuts the noise out almost fully.

Davel, there isn't a helmet on the market yet which is quiet enough to use without extra ear protection. So it's earplugs or tinnitus - you decide.

Been riding since I was 16. Only worn ear plugs for the last year or so and don't wear them all the time. No tinnitus but I am assured that helmet noise tires a rider (wimps I say) so it's better to wear them.

each to their own eh :)

Oh and I wear a Spiderman Helmet just like This which is an absolute bargain and I look well cool :P

Have never worn them and didn't for LE/JOG a few weeks back.

Personally I hate the sensation when they're in place and all you can hear is your heartbeat etc.

The bike is quiet enough anyway but I guess it's the wind noise that's the problem.

Like the spiderman helmet - now there's an idea.

Quite like the shoei with the tribe type thingy design.
