Which helmet

I went from a Caberg (Justissimo) flip to a Shoei Multitec. The most striking thing about the difference is the build quality of the Shoei. You pays yer money.........:augie

I can't get on with this idea of one helmet! I've got a System 5 for town and touring and an Tour X3 for 'knocking around in' (it goes with the bike - how vane am I?!). Despite what people say, the X3 isn't too bad for high speed riding (at least not on a GSA). But I except people's experience is different depending on bike/height/screen, etc.

I'd break it down to:

Flips are noisy and heavy
Enduros give great peripheral vision but you can get more buffeting
Full face are probably lighter and quieter

Add to that the fact that in most (but not all) cases the more you pay the better the quality.

Start with a Schubeth S1, add a Tour X3 to the shelf and maybe a Multitec to complete the trio!:D ££££......

helmets

hi there, i agree it must be an enduro for the GS look and i have had both the shoie hornt and currently wearing the tour x3 there is not a lot between them both good helmets but personaly ti prefere the tour as it has a slightly wider field of vision and is quieter, but fit will be a big pointer

also the Givi is worth a look for the lifty fronty helmet and under £200 quiet and weatherproof

good luck lofthopper

Ive been looking at the Airoh S4 as well , but judging by the threads there seems to be an issue with buffeting :(
Im 6,2" so now Im wondering if its such a good idea to look at the peaked lids :nenau:nenau

Think you will always get some buffeting with or without a peak.

I'm 6ft4 and even though the GSA had a cracking screen most of my head is getting plenty of wind blast. I can't say I noticed any significant difference between my old AGV K2 and the new Icon helmet in terms of buffeting but there is a more pronounced pull when your turn your head at speed (not too bad though, I'll get used to it).

Price you say for style I guess?

so the icon would you recommend ?? I have an old kbc its ok but i get a lot of noise , I think I could cope with the buffeting as i always have the screen on the lowest setting

Wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Icon Variant, I'm really pleased with mine and just ordered the dark visor today too!

Only possible downside I've found is the D ring fastener is a bit fiddily to do up and take off after the AGVs handy push click jobby but for £219 you can hardly complain?

You can get it in Rubatone (matte black) which was tempting, silver etched (like the pic), blue etched or red etched. I went for the silver after much discussion as I wasn't sure about the scull on the side. Have to say its slightly less obvious when you see in in the flesh.

They were also able to supply visors but they weren't listed on the site so I had to give them a call. Have to say they were very good to deal with.

Just to move things on a bit, last year I invested in a Touratwat screen extension for my GSA screen. It has transformed the wind buffeting! I'm about 6'1" so not the tallest but it makes a substantial difference. Wouldn't be without it now!:thumb

That's something I had been looking at Andy, wasn't sure how much of a difference it would make though? Must look into it...

I hve a Shoei Multitec, which is comfortable, but a bit noisy.

I was considering a summer helmet, and like the look & price of the Airoh S4.

However, I note it's made of thermoplastic. Now once upon a time, everyone used to say, "Don't get thermoplastic, it degrades on contact with petrol, get fibreglass..."

Does this still worry anyone?

Neill, I was in quite a quandry about which way to go. New screen, lower seat, etc.. I had an excuse to do a trip down to south Wales so phoned TT to see if I could borrow one to see what difference it made. Before I was off their industrial estate I could tell it was making a difference. Half way down a dual carriageway I just took it off and felt the wind hit me!

I accept these things don't work for everyone but it does for me!
