Which hydration system

Advice needed
I am looking for an all pupose hydration system approx 2 L, not so keen on the backpack idea would rather have something on bike or at easy reach.Never tried a system before but fed up with the constent search for fluid on long hot trips.Don,t know what systems are out there and would welcome any advice, would consider putting up with backpack if convinced by words of wisdom from experianced tourers. Well, I used to swear by Camelbak, which are damn good quality. The only thing which lets them down is the harness system. When travelling long distance the bloody straps can begin to cut into the front of your shoulders, especially when the bladder is full. It's pretty uncomfortable at times.

So, I bought a Kriega Hydro 3. Great piece of kit. The harness system is different to the Camelbak. The straps are different in a way that doesn't put pressure which cuts under your arms. Instead, the harness comes across the chest making the weight much better balanced. Their Rucksacks use a similar but more advanced system. Their stuff is the best around IMO, I have plenty of it too..

Also, bladders can be transfered into your tank bag if you don't want it on your back.

If I remember rightly Touratech do a system that fits to the top of a Tank Bag.

If I remember rightly Touratech do a system that fits to the top of a Tank Bag.

For my Morocco trip I bought a Camelbak Asymetric rucksack. Not only does this have shoulder straps with a chest strap for stability, it has a wide belt which takes the weight on your hips.

The hydration system uses the new Unbottle which is a stand alone insulated 3l container which can be removed from the rucksack and placed in a tank bag. That way you have the best of all worlds, and your water stays cool all day. Especially if you put ice in it.

I also invested a little more in the insulated drinking pipe, well worth the extra in hot climates

I am reading with hope to learn? No I don't have one. Instead I have an ex Army Belt-Type Water Bottle riveted to my Pannier. Keeps cool while riding? But I am interested in hearing about Insulated Hoses and such, sounds all good? Keep it up mate? More please? BIGJim Tas,amia.

I have often thought of fitting a draft keg on the back, fill one pannier with ice, and all hydration problems sorted!!

I did a similar thing at the National Ulysses Convention. It was dry and hot. So I wet my towel, filled a Pannier with ice filled it with Bundy. Covered it with the wet towel and put it in my tent worked a treat? Sweet. BIGJim.

Stick the platypus/camelback/whatever bladder into the tank bag, then suck.

Alternatively get a flip top helmet and one of these.

you could use a container attached to the bike and a 12v washer bottle pump and silicone tube ?

a push bike bottle ?

camelbak is what most people use - put it in a box if u don't want it on your back.
