Any suggestions as to the best mobile phone to use with an auto-answer facilitiy with an Autocom Pro-7 kit?

They told me which ones were best at Autocom when I had the kit fitted but can't remember which models. They also suggested I should steer away from the flip type ones (I guess they're a bugger to open when you're doing 90 :D )

Any pointers or persanal experiences?

Cheers

Nokia

I would recommend a Nokia. Most have an auto-answer facility which is very useful. I have a 6230 which has an in-built FM radio and MP3 player as well as a decent camera for stills and video. You can listen to the music and when a call is recieved it cuts the music out, answers then goes back to the playing music when the call is dropped. All of this without pressing a button.

Anyone you can get the little doo-hickey adaptor so you can plug the phone lead into your bike.

I've no idea why Autocom say no clam shells as you don't touch the phone in normal Autocom use and at least Motorola's have the socket built in.

I have a Nokia 6230 but until I can find the bastid little black adaptor mentioned in para 1, then for Autocom use I have a 6310i for which I have two of the little blighters.

It needs to be Nokia as they have a ring tone, whereas most of the others the first thing you know when someone is calling you is when you hear a voice in your head! A little disconserting.

I have used a Nokia with auto answer which worked fine. It was a free phone so I wasn't too bothered if it got soaked or wrecked.

I needed to buy an adaptor to make the phone recognise the autocom as a headset but this only cost a couple of quid.

Same as me - you can get them from Autocom (£10.00) but I am reliably informed they are the same adaptors as the 3310 which you can get from your local Carphone Whorehouse (or Tesco) for about £3-£4.

Tried the whorehouse, no go, tried Argos and severall othe independents. South London is full of little tikes selling every conceivable accessory for mobile phones including unlocking ones you've just nicked, but do you thing any of the seven I tried in Rye Lane, Peckham could help :shoot:

I'm loathed to give Autocom more money, they charge £10 for something which if I could find it someone else would charge £3-4 and still be making a decent profit

When I find one, I'll post the details here.
