There seems to be a lot of Tossers buying Klim gear these days. I really like my Rallye (aka Twat) suits but fancy something non-BMW for when I'm on my other bikes. So which Klim suit is getting the thumbs up - Badlands Pro, Latitude, Traverse? I want something that's waterproof and would suit riding in the UK in warmer weather - as well as being suited to places like Morocco. Any suggestions/opinions appreciated - I think quite a few from the recent Moroccco trip with Timolgra and Hatto were wearing Klim.

Badlands is the one to go for the pro is the old one but still good the advencher is the top dog but way to expensive

Lee, I've worn Twat gear for years. I hate being hot on the bike and I've yet to find anything better in hot weather.

I now have a Badlands jacket and Latitude trousers and the Twat gear relegated to off roading.

Be aware, the pro shell Gortex means that even with all the vents open neither are as cool as a Twat suit.

Also, the material is very stiff. It does break in to an extent but not quite as comfy as a Twat suit.

Sizing is plain weird so try before you buy.

Is it good kit? Yes.

Is it as good as a Twat suit? The jury is still out.

I had a Badlands and found it too heavy and restrictive but don't doubt its reputation for toughness.
I've now got the Overland jacket, still 100% waterproof but so much more comfortable . It's a boxy fit so my gerbing fits underneath without any restriction and yet with just a T shirt its stiff enough to not feel too baggy. Venting to the body is good though there are no arm vents. And it's half the price of the Badlands. I don't like the Klim trousers, too baggy for me so I still wear my Rallye 3's and don waterproof over trousers when needed

I have been using my bad lands pro ( the original) for nearly 4 years now and it has been and still is brilliant. yes they are heavy but you don't notice that once the built in kidney belt is fastened.

It has kept me dry in some serious rain over long periods.

I think that the venting on the Klim is the best of any jacket i have tried and i consider it to be an excellent all round suit. stick a heated jacket under in the cold or open all the vents in the hot.

I cannot comment on the new version although it seems lighter and not as stiff.

Certainly cheaper now than when i bought mine so price wise compared to what i see as the only real competitor (Rukka) it t looks good value

Thanks chaps. Glad to see the Twat suit still rates highly against the new kid on the block Andres! Think I'll need to have a try on session somewhere.

Forget the Badlands, go with the Traverse, Overland or Latitude jacket and Overland trousers for warmer weather Lee, although I personally wouldn't rely solely on any Klim gear for Iceland.

Oh and while I'm on one:D

Don't get lulled into the current trend of GS'ers gear, in particular I wouldn't suggest wearing Sidi Adventure boots for our Morocco trip, apart from being too hot, there's simply not enough protection for full on off road riding ....... just ask Toddy :D

Nothing will stop you from stubbing your toe - :P

I'm going to wear my Rallye suit in Iceland Tim as I'm expecting changeable and sometimes cold weather
I've got Sidi Adventure boots which I'm planning to wear in Iceland but I have some BMW Rallye II boots that I use offroad - great protection but maybe too rigid for Morocco? If so, what would you recommend as offering better protection for Morocco?

Use your Rallye boots for Morocco mate, although I prefer Sidi Crossfire.

The Adventure boots will be perfect for Iceland.......the goretex will ensure when they're full of water, it won't leak out :D

Klim Latitude vs Rallye Jacket

Ive had both the Rallye Jacket and the Klim Latitude Jacket. The Rallye becomes extremely heavy when wet due to the waterproof membrane being on the inside, which means you still need to dry the outer shell off for next days riding.

I wanted a jacket that had a 100% waterproof outer membrane, was light enough for summer riding but could be layered for winter. I tried the Badlands jacket, but as others have said it feels quite bulky and rigid, no doubt it will mould and wear in. The Latitude jacket just felt perfect straight off the peg, and a lot cheaper too!!:rob

I have now had the Klim Latitude jacket with a pair of Klim Badlands trousers for about 3 months now, using them for my daily commute into London, and after being through most of our British Spring weather , I can report that Klim products are an amazing lightweight waterproof piece of kit.

Very happy

Love it! :D

......................

It's always a compromise, whatever kit you use.

Pro-shell = hotter than a lined jacket.
Lined jacket = wet outer in heavy rain.

My priority is keeping cool so I always carried a cheap army Gortex over jacket in the bum pocket of my Twat suit. Kept it dry and warm in very wet conditions. I've recently gone posh and bought a 2nd hand Gortex Klim over jacket which I also use on my Badlands jacket, mainly for warmth as much as anything as with that on I only wear a t shirt, even in proper wet and cold conditions.

I have the Badlands Pro jacket and trousers which I bought as wanted one suit for year round use. Plus at the time I didn't have a GS and so wasn't considering the BMW gear. My two main choices were Klim or Rukka. I have found the Klim excellent in all weather, although agree that it will never be as cool (even with all vents open) as a lighter jacket; but the vents do allow you to cool down very quickly when you get moving again, so not too much of an issue. I also agree with the comments someone made that the Klim gear can be a bit stiff until broken in.

When I was knocked off my previous bike on my commute home last year, I was wearing my Klim jacket and Rukka trousers. The Klim was totally unmarked, but the Rukka's didn't fair so well, so I had to replace them and bought the Badlands trousers. I have been very happy with them over the last 12 months and 6,000 miles. The Klim gear is expensive, but given how well it is wearing, I am guessing I will not be needing to replace it anytime soon. Plus the customer service from them and their dealers is excellent.

I know the Klim adventure suit is the top of the range, but tried one on and personally I found it not as comfy as the Badlands; so that put me off (not to mention the bonkers price tag).

I also wear the Sidi Adventure boots, but again am not using them for serious off roading so they suit my purposes as an all year boot.

I resemble that comment :rob:D

never did see where the mirror ended up, but I'm off at the weekend to buy some crossfire boots and decent knee protection!

Might be joining you Toddy - my BMW Rallye boots aren't the most comfortable
and those Sidi Crossfire 2s look nice! Think I'll also buy some Sealskinz socks for Iceland as well!
