Which Michelin map?

Several, national, regional and local, the scales becoming smaller as you work down the list.
For a happy compromise, I would go with their map 572 for Asturias and Cantabria.

572 Regional covers the Asturias area, but depending on the extent of your travels, you may also require 575 Regional - Castilla y Leon. Michelin also publish a series of tourist maps called Zoom, these have a larger scale than the Regional maps. Zoom map 142 covers the Asturias and Costa Verde which may be of interest to you. Check the Michelin website for more info.
We are visiting the area ourselves in late September/early October.

Another option is to go to http://www.viamichelin.com and select the area you are interested in - then zoom in/out to your preference and print the resulting map on A4
At this stage I use a yellow marker to highlight my route, join two sheets back to back with my grandson's laminator and round off the corners. The result is a waterproof map that slips easily in and out of a tankbag mapcase
The ViaMichelin maps also allow you to add such useful features as fuel stations, ATMs etc

Yup agree that 572 (1:250000) pretty well covers it all regarding Cantabria and Asturias but they are so cheap in comparison to petrol that I also got 143 (1:150000) for more East to Bilao and a 1:80000 Picos de Europa topographical map published by Adrados in case I feel the urge to hike 
Good point about the relative cheapness of maps 
When you are in the Picos, have a look at what the local garages and paper shops have on offer. It's often possible to pick up very local maps and / or maps with a better orientation quite cheaply.
Whilst it's a crude map, I would certainly suggest getting a copy of ADAC's touring map, with some very good suggestions on roads to drive whether on a motorcycle or in a car.

Must admit Wapping it's mainly due to you that I am a 'born again' map reader...... In recent years I just got in the habit of using TYRE and google satellite images to plan my routes, which is especially handy when leading a group but there is something very refreshing about pulling over, getting the map out and deciding the next part of your journey
