I saw a Garmin cradle & power cables kit on Amazon

If they are the ones from Caiman-usa, be sure to factor in about another £12 which the Post Office are likely want from you for recovering import duty/vat on behalf of Customs.

(I gave up waiting for delivery of a cradle/cables from Expansys. They were permanently "due in 7 days")

Thanks for the info, ouch, thats not cheap when you add it up

Do i need a Garmin to BMW power connector, or do you wire it by just soldering it?

I would solder it Liam.

That way you keep your socket available for other accessories and it's tidier too.

Cheers,
Michel

PS Thanks for the order, the mount is coming your way in the morning :thumb2

GPS Warehouse normally have RAM mounts and Garmin mounts and cables in stock. If you order before about 2:00PM you will get it the next day.

Personally I was not totally happy with the Garmin mount. The satnav "clicks" to the front of it and it's necessary to tighten a tiny torx screw to lock it. As it is rather fiddly and eventually the scrw head gets worn I omitted to tighten mine properly and the satnav fell off going over Stelvio. The satnav survived but scratched but I invested in a Touratech mount. That does not need locking but for more security comes with a key lock and has a useful stylus fitted. Another option is the RAM 2610 mount. It's basic but only a few pounds and the satav just clicks in.

Connect the cable to the dedicated socket on the left of the bike's headstock (it can take a bit of finding). A plug for the socket is about £8.00 from BMW or you could do what I did, just stiffen the satnav wires with solder, push them in the socket and cover with tape. Worked OK for last two years.
