Which mount is this?

I'm in the market for a GPS or similar and already have a mount fitted to the bike. Before I buy something that is going to be a bugger to fit I'd like to know which GPS would fit the mounting and power sockets I already have fitted.

Ideally, I'll probably go for just a straight GPS (waterproof and I can use it for walking) but could be tempted by something else. This looks like a Garmin mount to me. If I used a straight GPS would this power sockets fit? There are two - a slidy on one and a plug connector.

I'm not sure about Garmin stuff generally. The Nuvi 250 I have for the car is rubbish compared with the TomTom my ex has now. A straight GPS might be a different matter, of course.

The mounting looks like a standard RAM mount but the mounting plate doesn't look that robust to me as there is no holding in device.

Any thoughts appreciated.

It looks like a garmin street pilot 26xx/27xx/28xx mount.
when you sit the GPS unit in the mount you push down the top of the mount and lock it in with a little star screwdriver supplied by garmin.
it acts as a security lock and stops the unit falling.
slide connector is 12v power.
plug connecter is for the audio/speaker.

Still think I might just go for a street outdoor GPS with turn by turn. By the looks of it I can just replace the head unit of the RAM mount.

That torx-screw Garmin holder is bullshit.It broke the tab on the back case of the unit.I bought myself an ordinary holder.Pretty happy with it.

It depends on which gps unit you decide upon new, secondhand, older model-not current or discontinued, etc, etc ?.

On a 12GS then RAM u-bolt mount is OK, so the RAM-B-231Z or as a short arm mount kit RAM-B-149ZA has the shim included in the kit so you can fit on LHS of clocks.

As to cradles, Touratech or RAM use diamond base (RAM-B-238) so a two hole fix pattern, whereas Garmin cradles and TT Rider V2 has four hole AMPS so RAM-B-347 is better to use than RAM-B-202 round base, which shall appear in zumo later. Zumo and Rider V2 shall get you a mount in the box.

I referred to one of my problems in the link above.Torx-screw garmin cradle is nothing on dirt. What it only does is crack the unit's backcase.
(Yesterday I experienced another trouble with hardwire.)
