I replaced my standard can with a Remus Titanium 'Road legal' exhaust when I got my GS 4 years ago. I've decided I would actually like to have something quieter..... (like the OE) Trouble is I don't want to put the original back on 'cos it's so bloody heavy! ( and it also melts my indicators whereas the Remus doesn't)

Can I modify the Remus any way to make it quiet, or is there another alternative?

Cat off

No.... took that off to save weight too, so I realise that doesn't help noise, but don't want to put that on again for the same weight reasoning.

I know what you mean, I was down the same road, albeit a non-street legal Carbon end can and no Cat...NOISEY!

I then fitted a decibel killer from the Carbon Can Company to my Blue Flame can, that calmed things down substantially. It was still Loud and to be honest, became a wee bit tiring after a lengthy run...

So now I have actually put the Cat back on, and that is the Only silencing I have and it's very civilised...

No Silencer at all ...works fine and allows me to use a full sized pannier on both sides too...

I have it on very good authority the best idea is to put the standard can back on ... which sounds great with the Remus front pipes .... and go on a diet to compensate for the extra weight in the silencer :D

Best sell the Remus to me ASAP and give yourself a blank canvas to work with ;)

Too heavy man!

There's no way I'm putting that great heavy thing back on again! I'll try an find time to try a Cat only setup, and see if that improves things. If I sort it, I'll give you first shout on the Remus.......
