Done over 6,000 miles on my GSA now, tried the TT clip on extender, tried the Laminar lip even tried different helmets. So i'm looking to buy an after market screen, but which one??????:nenau

Got three in mind :-

MRA Vario Touring.

MAR Vario Maxi.

Wunderlich Xtreme.

All sell for £125ish, so i'm after your opinions :bow of which one to purchase. :thumb2:thumb2:thumb2:thumb2:thumb2:thumb2

What actually are you looking to achieve here? If you are looking for no wind and total peace and quiet, you'll never get it with a GS.

Dump the screen all together and put a nose cone one on,loads better for noise, buffering and the vague feeling from the front end at speed will also go away, does'nt get in the way when on one wheel either

I had an Adventure, sold for the standard bike. big mistake but thats another story. Never found the screen an issue the screen on the standard bike is;nt bad but not as good as the Adventure. I'm 6ft 1" never suffered any buffeting. Have you tried to set the screen on it's highest setting? £125 is a lot of dosh to find it does'nt make a jot of difference. Touratech do a clip on extension a no drill job idea is that if you go off road it just clips off. If you do get a new screen and your adventure screen is for sale send me a pm. Hope this helps you out. dave:beerjug:

I've never had a problem with buffeting, but am still in search of something that's fairly quiet. I tried the Vario Touring and found it didn't really help reduce the noise, despite the fact that I'm only 5'8" and wear a Schuberth C2, which is considered to be a quiet helmet. Others will report that the Vario Touring is wonderful, so I've concluded that the effectiveness of screens is very much down to individual experience. Hope you find something that works well for you!

Have you tried the wunderlich screen extension/spoiler? Very similar to the TT one but you can adjust the height and angle. Still playing about with mine but it's made s huge difference. Doesn't stop noise and buffeting altogether, don't think you can on a gs/GSA, but it helps a lot.

Tall screen v Extender/spoiler

I'm reading with interest the posts on this subject as being 6ft 4 I need to improve some of the buffeting ( i know it can't all be removed & it's not my intention to try)...

I'm looking at both higher screens & spoilers.... but which provide the better results???? ....have any "tossers" used both and can comment...... these would be appreciated.

I have a long body 6'5 body on 5'10" legs so have the same issue and have recently fitted a a Z-Technik. to help make the decision first I put my hand across the top of the screen to see if blocked some air. Try gaffer taping a piece of stiff card board across the top of the screen at various heights. I ended up with a extra tall Z- Technik. Having said all this the screen on a GS is a dark art and an expensive or lucky exercise in guess work.

Is there a uk distributor for these Ztechnik Vstream touring screens??

I've gone to the opposite extreme and hacksawed a standard screen down to flyscreen proportions. Much less wind noise and the bike doesn't move about as much in crosswinds. I've been researching big screens for years (I'm 6'6" so I catch every bit of breeze) but might well stick with the flyscreen. It's colder and quieter because wind now hits my chest rather than my helmet but nothing a couple of extra pies can't cure.

Earplugs?

Yes I do use earplugs, but they make it difficult to hear the GPS, MP3 player (on very long runs) as well as at petrol stations, toll booths etc. Lots of other people report quiet conditions ("visor up & can hear the engine noise at 75mph") so it is possible.

Wunderlich xtreme here. I'm 6'1" and it works a treat, If I slump slightly it goes all silent and calm at any speed.:augie

I've just ordered the Givi AF330 Air flow. I've had Givi screens on previous bikes and they've always delivered.

I'll post up when I've tried it

I also use a Wunderlich Xtreme and find it very effective. A good option if you're looking for a middle sized screen - and a lot cheaper than the GSA alternative.

Givi AF330 for £127.49 for UKGSer Members

Hi, first of all great forum, I have always wanted a GS but my pockets we only deep enough for a lowley Aprilia Caponord!!
I here on the most part out of interest in the big BMW’s however there is a sly underhanded bit of guerrilla marketing I’d like to get out of the way.
In my day job I work for DK Motorcycles in Staffordshire ( they have been mentioned a few time previously in this thread) I am the person responsible for the Givi stock and I have just put a quantity of the AF330’s in stock. The retail is a touch over £150 but we are selling them on eBay here (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Givi-AF330-BMW...item51924686ac) at £137.49 plus £5.95 post. However as an exclusive offer to my fellow UKGSer.com members I can offer you one over the phone with an additional £10 discount and free post to mainland UK. Making it £127.49 delivered to your door. I am also always happy to help out fellow riders with any other luggage or service parts with exclusive offers for UKGSer forum members.
Thanks Gang
