Was out in my bag this weekend for the first time in a few inches and it was virtually unbearable, I can only just put my arms by my sides and once there they are stuck. Anyone know something that won't break the bank, will only be used in +4oC to +15oC type temps and gives someone with a slightly larger frame a bit of space?
Cheers, Beefy

Personally, I paid top money for a decent bag and mattress because nothing is worse than a bad sleeping experience. It can blight the next day. Each bad night will compound the issue.

Get an Army Surplus artic one = they go up to very huge sizes. Be prepared to sleep with it undone most of the time though - they are incredibly warm.

Depends how much of a big lump you are.

I have a Vango 300XL which is 110cm width as opposed to the regular 80cm of mummy bags. It means even I have plenty of room but it doesn't pack down small at all. Its also 'sqaure' (well rectangle actually) as opposed to 'mummy' shaped.

A great bag and with the Exped mattress means as good a night sleep as I'll get in a tent.

By a kyam

Buy a kyam "biker" same as the mcinley but packs up smaller, more joints in the poles, six of us brought these after going after Mckinlies, they are the answer. Down filled bags are more expensive, but these do pack down into minute size just keep going and going down, brilliant. (and warm).

This is the one I have. I love it, plenty of room to move about in and I bought the 'long' version.

Snugpack do an Extender.

It just zips in to your existing bag. Gives about another Five or six inches at the top and tapers down towards your feet. Great bit of kit that you can swap between bags if you want.

Traveldri Les got me one........Here`s the link.........:thumb

Yep. Like Shep, I have a Gelert too.
In fact got two of these - http://www.gelert.com/products/Freedom_400_DL_XL.aspx

Zip would not work on one, and because of their lifetime guarantee, they replaced it with no hassle. Used mine in Scotland, England, Wales, and bits of Africa. Excellent pieces of kit, and wider than your normal 80cm shoulder width. Recommend, and not too expensive - although I doubt if they would manage in the Arctic.
I use this and a 3/4 length air mattress thingy, and sleep well, usually - although that depends who is snoring in the next tent.

Quick google, and found it cheaper here: http://www.abc-camping.co.uk/search.aspx?src=&page=30
Even cheaper: http://www.outdoormania.co.uk/Produ...dom_400_DL_X-Large_Sleeping_Bag&ProductID=419

Cheers for all the info. Any links to the surplus arctic bags...failing this I might give the Gelert a try.
