I am in the market for a tankbag for a 2012 GS, which should i consider?

Famsa make a great quality tank bag. Once you get past the fiddly zip(couple of goes and you will get the hang of it).

Used the same bag since my 2007 GS, it has now seen 3 different bikes.

All of them for many different reasons!!!! :blast

The BMW ones will only fit certain year bikes, so that is important.

Do you want a smallish discreet one - for day trips and convenience items

or one that would expand and otherwise be a 40 ltr tail pack - for tours, tickets, maps, water, food, clothing layers perhaps etc etc.

Do you want easy removal for fuel stops or aren't you bothered??

Cheap or expensive

Waterproof or water resistant (NOT WATERPROOF)

Map holder or not

I've got 4 :blast

If it's a big un you'll fill it.

If it's a small un you'll fill it... :thumb

I prefer the Wunderlich bag as it sits forward on the tank more, a pain on the early GSA which had a crossbrace but no problem now.

+2 - tried the larger one, didn't like it - I now have the small one, which does everything I need, especially with full luggage.

Really depends what you want from your tank bag - I only want maps, spare gloves, cap, drink and a few bars/sandwich - so I'm easily pleased ;)

I've got the smaller of the motorrad one. Its ideal for a map, and a few easy to hand things, and waterproof - which means if I'm using the map or a sat nav in it I don't have to cover the window with a rain cover (wazza point in that???...other manufacturers take note!!).

Taking it off and on again for refills is a pain (for all tank bags) ... I miss my KTM Adventure on that score :(

Givi

I use the Givi one shaped for the GS. Quite roomy without being too bulky. Not waterproof but hasn't leaked yet :hide
